Yes or so we are told. It contains cyanide, a deadly poison. However, I do not know how much of this poison can be found inside the pit. Maybe just enough to make you sick, depending on you age, size and weight.

All parts of the peach, plum, and cherry are poisonous, with the stone kernels containing the highest concentration of cyanide, at 164 mg/100 grams. While no human deaths have been reported, hogs and cattle have succumbed to eating fallen peaches pit and all. Now you know why they are not for sale on the market.

When you crack the nut (peach pit) there is a soft seed inside that smells strongly of cyanide and has a bitter taste. It has a small amount of a cyanide-containing compound -- amygdalin -- but the lethal dose is over 50 pits.

yes but you would have to eat more then your stomach could hold or beak your teeth before the cyanide would even make you sick. i love peaches and i have eaten them for ever and the pit not the nut has never heart me.
