Tins - hopkins, castmaster, crocodile - if you're fishing on the beach. Reason, you could cast tins further than swimming plus. In the fall poppers work. Thes lures are for striped bass, and bluefish.

There's nothing more effective for bass than the black plastic worm! We've caught many 5lb+ bass casting from boat to shore and using a slow retrieve. (If you're fishing from shore, cast parallel to the shore.) Stop and let it sink awhile at intervals. We use 1.0 weedless hooks. The most important thing is not to try to set the hook at first nibble.Wait 'till he runs with it then "WHAM" , set the hook. You'll get him! Good Luck!
