Say you have a child who is murdered, and you ask the medical examiner if your child suffered or went quickly and painlessly. The medical examiner is able to determine whether or not the death was quick or prolonged. If the medical examiner tells you your child never knew what happened it was so fast, even if he/she KNOWS the death was a long slow, horrible, painful, terrifying death, that's a lie I believe God would understand. There are many reasons not to tell the truth. When the truth is so unbearably painful and a lie will spare someone, tell the lie. You can explain yourself to God when the time comes.

Yes it is always a sin. It's one of those tricky sins where people can fall into it with good intentions. For instance what if you were in Nazi Germany during WWII and some soldiers came to your door asking if you had any Jews hiding in your basement and you did in fact have some down there?
Doesn't it seem like it would be "OK" to tell the soldiers "No, I don't know where any Jews are and there are none in my basement"?
But God says that it is a sin to lie and so you could say something else like "Are you kidding? I know that a person who is helping the Jews is likely to get sent off to a concentration camp along with them if they get caught".
You haven't lied, you just haven't provided the information that the person asking the question wanted.

According to the Bible lying is a sin. Jesus said 'the devil is a liar and the father of lies'.......and satan lies to mankind continually. Do we want to follow the Lord, or the devil? Lying creates much sorrow and hurt. Anything that causes hurt and sorrow is a sin. Hope this helps.

I think white lies are fine - like telling a sick person they're looking better or telling your mother-in-law wearing a hideous hat that she looks lovely, etc.
If being honest would just be rude, sometimes just shutting it is best.
This begins and end my stint as Miss Manners...but I've seen lots of people use "honesty is the best policy" to just be obnoxious or take someone else down a peg.
The point is to be a generous, caring person--which MOST of the time means telling the truth.

I would say yes, but then again, those little lies called "little white lies" are they a sin? If you hedge around the truth about something to save someones feelings, are you sinning? Its hard to answer your question with just a yes or a no.

no,
sometimes telling a lie to someone can be the best gift in the world.
If someone says "Am i Stupid" its a good idea to say "Why of course not, you're brilliant!" Even if the person is stupid and noes it, it might boost their self esteem for a bit. People get enough negativity already, i think a little white lie is needed every once and again.

that style of mendacity could be a sin. you're able to take the credit for something you probably did not do. in case you advised a guy or woman that replaced into in an twist of destiny and had their physique decrease in a million/2 they could be ok. you're able to do no harm in mendacity. The Bible says our occasion is what concerns. to declare any be conscious that could desire to be recognized as a undesirable occasion could be incorrect. you will possibly be able to desire to declare issues which you think to be actual and not comprehend you're incorrect. it would not be a sin to declare all mendacity is a sin in case you do not evaluate all situations for the lie. purely misinformed.

In our day to day lives yes.
But let's say you were in Germany or Poland during WW2 and were hiding a Jewish family and some German soldiers knocked on your door. I think lying to save someone's life it perfectly acceptable.
