If she's your friend, u prbly should've known how she would take a comment like that. Don't get me wrong- I'm all 4 honesty and straight talk, but some people r sensitive. Give her a few days 2 cool down and then call her back. Don't apologize 4 being honest but do apologize 4 being so abrupt and then, explain that the best friends always tell each other the truth.

Well . A little diplomacy might be nice.
Or is that how you answer all questions.
Stupid is a very direct insult . Because it's the next thing to being Brain dead.
You could have said he seams pleasant but a little slow. Or foolish or whatever it is that you found to be stupid. So How much do you like this Friend of yours?

I would be offended by that but the truth is, she asked you! You have an opinion she clearly can't handle. She probably expected you to say something great which is why she asked. I guess it depends on tone as well...if she hadn't hung up u could have told her why you thought he was "stupid"

Your friend is offended because you didn't tell her what she wanted to hear. However, I think you could have said it differently. Although honesty should be a valued and respected trait among friends, it sometimes takes a while for the other to realize it.

As was just said, people more or less want to hear what they want to hear, especially about someone close and important to them.
It probably offended her because she is seeking your acceptance by asking what you thought of him and you shut her down.
Next time, try giving a middle-grounded answer like, "I am glad he makes you happy" or "You all seem to be good together" rather than a blunt truth.

Well, she thinks this boy is all that and is really excited about him until somebody tells them otherwise. It may seem true, but you can try to be nicer about it and say something like, "No offense, but he tends to do dumb things" or something like that (I don't know what happened or who this guy is so i can't really say the perfect sentence). I still don't know altogether how it is such a big deal since she asked you for your opinion, but I guess she was expecting you to say something nice about him and you say something completely different. Of course, this doesn't mean that you have to go off and lie about him, just be careful about what you say.

Girls are complicated. They get upset over small things. Something else probably happened that day, causing her to be upset and this probably just ticked her off. I wouldn't be too concerned about it. If she SILL is mad for a few more days, talk to her and tell her that you didn't mean to offend her and that you're sorry.

Perhaps you shouldnt have put it so bluntly, or at the least prepared him. I know its stupid but people ask a question expecting to hear something. When they dont they get pissed.
If she confronts you about it, ask her "did you want to know the truth, or did you want me to lie to you". She may not take it the right way, but i think she would at least understand where your coming from. Perhaps explain what makes you feel that way?

you just said you told her that her boyfriend was stupid. if you're a friend you'll not be saying that kind of stuff. unless you got other motives like you like her and trying to get her broken up. even if it works and later she talks to her friends or him and find out the truth ,she'll turn on you one day and you'll end up in a nasty, nasty divorce. tell her you were kidding and try again to be a friend to him and her

Why wouldn't she get offended?!
When you comment on her bf, you also comment on her decision-making abilities. Telling her that her bf is "stupid" is the equivalent of telling her "you got bad tastes, girl!".
