Pride is the first reason.. If you read C.S. Lewis's book Mere Christianity ( He was an atheist but looked and saw the truth of God's love) you will see that pride is the worst of the "7 deadly sins" because it is the sin in the heart not of the flesh.

In pride many would not want to admit that they have fallen short and need the salvation promised by Jesus.

In pride others seem to think that God is there personal wish granter and if they don't get what they want then God doesn't exist... (they obviously never read the new Testament at all)

Some just feel it is there right to hate and be angry all the time. They have chosen their attitude and do not want God's love.

Finally I think that some just take the selfish way of the "freedom" offered by sin and become slaves to it. How many people go out every weekend to find some new guy or gal to have a "fling" with but are unwilling to have commitment.

C.S. Lewis - "Now is our chance to choose the right side. God is holding back to give us that chance. It won't last forever. We must take it or leave it."

God did not create us to experience misery living with each other, or to fear one another, or to put ourselves above each other; we were created to overcome our flesh, which fights against our true natures while in mortality. In the end, we must overcome the flesh and learn to respect each other and live the law of the everlasting gospel of His Christ.

Who is Satan?
Rev 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

There is only one way to conquer the flesh and cast Satan out: make sure those with whom you associate have the same ability and means to find happiness as you do. If all beings live to make sure everyone else around them is happy, we would all be happy. In other words, do unto others what you would have them do unto you—the commandment upon which all the laws of God, His Christ, and His prophets are predicated.

Because satan comes in many forms and makes sin look so good. How could fun and pleasure for only a short time, be better than joy,(happiness) and worshiping God, with no sickness, no pain for eternity?

No where in the Old Testament is Satan even listed. Genesis talks about fallen angels, but does not say that Satan has dominion over anything.
Satan is an invention of the Church to control the populatiuon by threatening punishment.. People who worship him are slightly drmrntrd snf should not be taken seriously

*Hypothetical example*

Would you steal, cheat or lie to save the life of your dying child?

I would.

It's not as simple as good vs. evil, good choices vs. bad choices. People are suffering, people don't all believe the same things, and people will do what it takes to survive in spite of a life that didn't show them how to make good choices or provide the resources to be able to make good choices.
