i have 2 rescued dogs. 1 silky & 1 maltese. they sleep together play together & do like eachother's company as far as i can tell. now my silky is a bit hyper active although she gets an hour every day where she can run around like crazy off the leash and goes for another 30 minute walk before she goes to sleep but sometimes she acts very strange.
now i will try to describe this as good as i can when we go for out early morning walks, she is on a seperate leash to my maltese, she gets really excited and runs ahead, runs back, runs into my maltese and jumps on him and growls. but never with teeth so it makes me thing it's not an aggressive growl. does she just want to play? or is it more of an issue i should be careful of? if so what can i do to stop it? i try to hold her on a shorter leash until she calms down but that seldom happens.
thanks for advise

Sounds like she's just a very exuberant dog who has a lot of get-up-and-go in the morning. If your maltese doesn't mind her antics, there's nothing to worry about - she's just playing. If it bothers you, you'll have to train her to heel, but she's just having fun!

sounds like play fighting you may try to take her on a separate walk from the other dog first thing in the morning if you have the time also teaching her some good leash manners like how to heel and a good sit stay may also help when she begins to get hyper have her do the sit stay until she is a calmer then resume the walk i hope this advise has helped a little

i just think she has a lot of energy..maybe in the morning you should let them out to do their thing for a little bit to run off some energy and then take them for a nice long walk. and a good long walk before bed is a nice ritual. shes not being aggressive with the other dog..shes just excited..you just might need to up her exercise and play time.

have a fenced in backyard and get a doggie door, let her come and go into the backyard as she pleases, but teach her how to use the doggie door. some dogs just never calm down (kinda like my sister) but try the doggie door and she should use alot of energy! take her for longer walks and dont worry, they are play fighting, my dogs do that too! :)

some dogs just do a play growl and that is what this sounds like if it were domething worse there would have been a serious fight by now.
I wouldn't worry at all
