My iPod won't turn off when I press and hold the pause button like it's supposed to, therefore wasting the battery when I am not using it. Any ways to fix it? Thanks

Hold MENU and the MIDDLE button for 5-6 seconds until your ipod resets. Then it will be back to normal and you should be able to turn it off.
Don't worry, this doesn't erase your memory, unless something is seriously seriously wrong, but it should just turn it off and back on...

Press and hold the MENU and CENTER buttons for about 10 seconds. Your iPod should do a complete shutdown, and restart.

I have this same problem sometimes. Press that circle button in the center of your iPod a few times then try again. Sometimes this works sometimes it doesn't, you just have to keep trying. I know it sucks, its annoying, but it'll turn off.

Does not shutting off effect the songs?
Maybe you could buy a new one but I doubt you'll want to waste your money
Here's a way, take out the battery when you are not using it but when you are put it back in so you can listen to it without your battery out!!

if it's what happens to me, dont touch it for ten seconds then hold the pause button for like five seconds.. it just takes that long to turn off if it's recently been touched. :)

The hold switch might be on. If so change it. Or you might need to re-set it. If these don't work plug it into your computer and ask Apple for help.
