i want to switch my doog to canidae all life stages dog food. he is currently on nutro natural choice large breed dog food chicken which is f uckin crap. it's full of corn and soy yuck and rice too. i looked into innova and solid gold also and canidae looks best. my question is will it be good for a large breed dog? i noticed it does not have the glucossamine and chondroitin nutro or innove does. also how could the same food be good for a 5 week old chihuaha and a 10 year old mastiff it just doesnt make sense im a little skeptical about that. oh and how much will a 40 pound bag cost. btw its my dogs birthday today wish him a happy bday hahah

I'm been feeding Canidae for about 10 yrs now and my dogs do great on it. They do have a Senior food they call Canidae Platnium. It has the glucosamine and a lower fat content for the older or overweight pet.
Innova and Solid Gold are also excellent foods. I think the biggest difference between them and Canidae is price. I pay $32 for a 40 lb bag of the regular Canidae. Their Sr food is more expensive, but still less than other premium foods.

I use Canidae on my Akita's. you can add in a supplement called Nupro which is for joing support etc..... IF you have a large breed you want to go with the container with the silver label. Add only 1/4 tsp to the food. Mastiff...Beautiful Dogs!....I am not sure how Canidae is good for 2 different sized breeds but maybe you can email the company and ask them to explain. 40lb bag of Canidae costs me about $40. Happy Birthday btw

First Happy Birthday to your dog.

I also have large breed dogs. 2- 90 pound Golden's. I feed them Canidae all life stages and recommend it to everyone I speak too.
It is such a high quality food that your dog will hopefully not need the glucossamine and chondroitin.
This food was designed to meet the needs of all kind of dogs at every stage of their life.
If your dog at some point needs joint support then there are very good supplement on the market in the right dose's for your dog. The dose's in the other foods are so little that it rarely does any good. It's a good marketing gimmick.

I have no worries when I recommend this food to any owner who has a large breed dog.
Good luck!

Sorry I forgot I pay 38 dollars for a 40 pound bag of food. This varies as to where your located.

Canidae has been great for my dogs. It has all the nutrients needed for a dog. In the wild, wolf pups eat the same thing as adults. No extra vitamins for them. I have tried many foods and recommend Canidae everytime. I have fed it to many dogs, and have yet had a dog refuse to it, or not do great on it.

A 40 lb bag will cost you about $40 on average, but if you follow feeding guidelines, you will use less of it than a cheaper brand.

Happy Birthday!!!
I used to work for breeding kennel/hunting preserve that breeds British Labradors...this kennel uses and believes in Canidae.
The owners have been breeding for 20+ yrs . The dogs are gorgeous and very intelligent.
The kennel uses the Canidae all life stages for its puppies too and I have not seen one puppy have any issue with growing up all of the puppies had great reports from the vets when they came out to vaccinate the puppies, if you want to talk to the owners some more about Canidae please do here is the link to the site http://www.royaltybritishkennels.com

Canidae all life stages is a great food. Glucosamine in a food is more of a gimic then it is useful. They can't put a "useable" amount in foods.
The nutrition level and the high quality ingredients make it a perfect food for all life stages and for all sizes. It has a lot of usable meat protein.

It will defiantely be very good for your guy. This is the food I feed my Danes.

Happy Birthday to your boy :)
