Stock brake system is awful. The rotors warp and the pads crack. The front brake rotors are undersized for the vehicle up until 2003 which is why there are so many problems. (Cracked pads, warped rotors, not stopping) Spending $200 or less on some aftermarket brakes will do you some good if it hasn't been done already. Aside from that, the 4.7 motor is prone to serious sludge problems especially at high mileage/unverified maintenance. The 5.9 can often have a few A/C issues as far as not being that efficient of a system and not being as cool as most would like it. Nothing wrong with the system, it just doesn't get that cool but can be "fixed" by removing the mechanical fan and fan clutch and adding in a bigger fan or dual electric fan setup. (V10 fan or Viper fan works amazingly well) Aside from those common complaints it is a solid truck. Visit www.durangoclub.com and any question you have, you'll find an answer there.

They should be fine, a buddy of mine bought one last year and everything still sound. Only replaced ball joints in it. That's because motivating across corn fields at 40 for a summer kinda puts a damper on things.

There were some problems with brake rotors. But that is not unusual, other than that, they seem to be good rigs for what they are, a big ugly luxury car.
