Not all batteries work in a battery charger. You can get rechargable batteries at lots of places like radio shack, costco, anywhere where there are batteries. Rechargable batteries usually cost more than regular batteries though.

Not all types of batteries work in a battery charger. Only rechargeables. You can find those at just about any store. They cost just a little more than regular ones, but they're a wonderful investment! I have some for my CD player, Game Boy, and digital camera. I have saved lots of money.

No, only rechargeble batteries should be used in battery chargers. You can find rechargeable batteries at a Target, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, etc. If you don'thave a charger, you can purchase a charger at any of these retailers as well.
Also be sure to use the brand of batteries with the same brand of charger.

Ni-Cad or nickel cadmium batteries are designed to be recharged. Alkaline batteries are not designed to be recharged and can blow up on you.
The bad part about Ni-Cad is they don't work well in high battery count products. Each ni-cad is only 1.25 volts instead of 1.5 volts. For each 4, you lose one volt. So, it a large portable stereo that needs many batteries, they don't work so well. Newer portable devices that use 8-12 batteries now include "dummy" cells for ni-cad use, example, use 12 nicad batteries, or use only 9 alkaline and 3 dummy batteries (just an example, don't quote me on any specific equipment).
