I've applied for about 7 jobs, and I haven't received not one call yet. My friend told me to ask their managers and introduce myself to them. Hard thing is, is that I rarely see the managers.

So, is there any thing I have to do to get the managers attention so they'll accept me. I mean, I'll work anywhere in my city, since I really need money. I also made it a goal to get a job this month.

There is something you are doing that is not working for you. Do you have a resume? Do one. Get a book at the library and find out how to write one that is correct and puts your best foot forward. Call and make an appointment with the manager to give him your application. If your not called within a reasonable time, I would call or go by and see the manager. Be sure your application is neat, everything is filled out, and when you read the resume book, it will give you pointers on how to sell yourself. Dress appropriately. Use your best manners. Be very neat, very clean. Shine your shoes. Hand your application to the manager or find out when he will be there and return and hand it to him and say you are looking forward to working for the company and why. Whoever management perceives to be the better person for the job, will get the job. The better you are perceived, the more $ you can request as well as barter for vacation and perks. Practice makes perfect. It's an artform.

Sometimes...places will take applications regardless of their hiring status and put you on file for like 6 months. Each employer is looking for something different and unique to what they need, so the sooner you figure out what that place needs, you can put this info down on the app. Finding this info out is the tough part as you may or may not have discovered and a good way to try to find out, is asking the current employees what they think the 'boss' is looking for. If you think you come close to fulfilling this need...apply, and curve your application to state what they want to hear.

It's tough this time of year though, what with everyone out of school...sometimes after a certain date, the first few week of June...all the spots are full...and you're just crap out of luck.

What are you wearing when you go in to the place? Do you write legible? What kind of jobs are you applying for? Do you have any experience in what you applied for? Do you have any experience and are you applying for jobs that the applicant must meet certain requirements?
