So my question is this, when did you decide to believe in God or for that matter when did you decide not to?

It's been an on-going process. I went to a Lutheran grade school for K-8 grade. Was considering being a minister and going to a Seminary. But then I changed direction. Found out I liked radio broadcasting more while in HS. Still believed in God, and for all that matter there was never a time when I didn't, however doubts came up when I went to college so I studied other religions including Hindu, Zoroaster, Ba-Hai, Islam (a real bummer), Budism (more a philosophy than "religion"), Cabal...you get the idea. Stayed away from organised religion for over 25 years. Never went to "church". A funny thing happened between then and now. I came right back to where I started!! I never decided not to believe in God, I just chose a path to enlighten myself. So now at age 61, here I am. God didn't change. I did. By the way, I'm not a regular "church-goer" yet in my old home congregation, but I'm getting there. It's like sitting down into a tub of very hot water. You do it very slowly especially if you have not taken a bath for over 25 years! LOL. P.S. Pobre Cito seattlefan74. You don't know what you are missing.

I didnt decide to believe in God. When I was a young girl, the notion from inside me came to pray to God. No one had ever talked about God to me, nor did I ever see a picture of the Image of God. I have been praying to God since the first time as a lil girl.

Like several others who have answered this already, I would have to say that I have always believed. I know pastors would have a fit over the idea of somebody saying that they have always believed in God and Christ Jesus as Saviour, but that is just the way I am. I simply believe. No conversion experience, just faith. Interesting, it was that faith that lead to my Associate of Theology degree. God can make use of anything when we let him.

I was baptized as an infant, which was the beginning of my faith. As I grew, I attended church and Sunday School, and eventually, when the time came, attended Confirmation Class. Confirmation Class is the time when you do just that... confirm your baptism and thusly your faith in the Lord. Of course, even now, I have the freedom of choice to reject my faith, but as yet, I have not had any reason to do so. So you might say that I "decide" every day whether or not to keep my faith in the Lord.

there was a time in my life when i was really struggling with my faith..i was in a constant war with my self..the idea "just because i was born to my parents i had to follow their faith'' did not appeal to me..i wanted to know if there was more..something that i didnot know..and could be right..and so..i started researching..so much so that i started attending other religious meetings...just to find out..that the faith i belong to is the right one..that time my trust in GOD strengthen more..and i knew i was on the right path..the satisfaction only got sweeter when he answered all my prayers amazingly..and when i reflected on my life i realized how selfish n self centered i had always been just cause i was raised with a golden spoon in my mouth...i never looked beyond myself..the day i looked beyond the horizon and realized what life was about and how God had helped me and is still helping me..i get speechless ..

I gradually detoxified from my cathaholicism as I grew to love my wife. This evolved into Forgive Affirmed Spirit, what I am now. Today I envision and profess that God is everywhere including in you and me and all things and non things. I profess that we are all doing our best and that we are destined to heal each other until disease is conquered and the dead are brought back to life, that God cannot separate from any part of God's self.
