As a man who has spent over a thousand days in the back-country, all over the western US, I have noticed climate change. It can't be denied.
I am not some crackpot who has a politician tell me the 'facts', I experience them.
There is no debate.

Crystal, wrong question area. This is Religion and Spirituality. But to answer your question. The debate is NO longer about whether or not Global Warming IS occuring. It's a given fact that something is happening with our climate. The debate is now about what is causing it and HOW to go about preparing for it.
I think that it's pointless to argue about where the fault lies and it's a complete WASTE of time. What NEEDS to be doen it to prepare for the ineveitable warming that is till to come. If we were to STOP ALL emissions of Greenhouse gasses we would STILL see a continued increased of Global Temperatures. This is due to a phenomena known as the Climatic Lag. The CURRENT rises that have been measured are the result of emmisions from about 40 to 50 years ago. Today's emissions will not have an effect on Temperatures until another 40 to 50 years from NOW. As you can SEE. ther is absolutely NO way that further warming can br prevented, even if we STOP modern civilization in it's tracks right this second. An avalanche has begun, it's still way up high in the mountain but it IS coming down here and there's NO way to stop it. The only thing we can do is get OUT of the way.
We need to plan for the consequences of climatic changes. We need to plan NOW and STOP wasting our time pointing fingers. Blaming someone or something is NOT going to change a single thing NOR will it help a single person through the consequences of temperature change.

This is how I normally explain it to people I know.
The sun sends down light rays to warm the earth, but most of the energy escapes rather quickly and by itself, the sun cannot heat the earth above the freezing point of water. This is not new, as it was discovered in the 1850's and has been the mainstream scientific opionion since then. The reason the earth is as warm as it is is because of the greenhouse effect, which allows certain elements to resonate with high wavelength photons from the sun, and send the energy back to the earth before it can escape, or just amplify it on its way down. If that sounds too illogical, just look at your micorwave. Everytime you turn it on, it heats substances in the same way that greenhouse gasses help heat the earth. Therefore, everytime you heat something in a microwave you are proving human caused global warming, since our increasing of greenhouse gasses would logically lead to an increase in the effect of the greenhouse effect.
Hope that wasn't too long for you.

We have been having global warming since 1000 AD when we had the little ice age. Some scientists believe sun spots control ice ages and extreme heat. Gary Stearman explained this recently as a great snowfall and then the sun comes out and it begins to melt, well right before it completely melts away it is as if it speeds up. A little snow melts faster than a great deal of snow.

Try looking at the average global temperature rise. If that doesn't prove it, nothing will.
