its a cake try ordering a cheese pie and see what you get allthough the make it in a pie dish so that may confuse you. But dont try getting a recipe for cheese pie if its cheese cake you want

well you get baked cheesecake and refrigerated ones. so i would call the cold one a pie and the hot one a cake!

It's called a Cake - no matter whether baked or refrigerated. Perhaps the English name comes from some bad interrpretation from another language.
