Should I get a male or female boston terrier? Which one is better with kids? Does the gender have anything to do with how long they live? Which one lives the longest if so?

I only get female dogs and have them spayed. Male dogs like to mark their territory by lifting their legs on everything. I have over 50 years experience with dogs. Life span doesn't even come into the picture. Either one lives as long as they are well taken care of. PS. spaying is very IMPORTANT. HAVE IT DONE BETWEEN 4 months and 7 months of age.

LIfe span is nearly the same. Get either dog fixed. Both sexes are energetic, intelligent, and playful.

If your kids are a little rambunctuous, then a male may be more playful and a female more tolerant... but you wouldn't be able to tell unless you actually compared them side by side. Make sure you socialize your pup with many people and other kids...before 3 months and with other dogs as soon as it has had all of its shots.

It is easier and maybe cheaper to fix a male than a female.

I completely agree with Kingsley.

She has it right!

I just want to add that gender has nothing to do with life span. Small dogs live about 12-15 years.

Bostons are great with kids. Training and socialization are a must for any dog. Good luck

i don't think it matter which is which.....they should both live the same...and they should both treat the kids the same...but look @ the parents if u can....see how they treat kids and if u rn't gonna get em fixed and they r gonna be inside dogs then i..idk...which would be better cause a guys marks territoryt...but then when it is time 4 heat 4 the girl(heat=period).....other wise...just look @ the parents how they r then look @ the puppies and be sure 2 treat them nice or they won't treat u nice

Males tend to be better with children...but they also can be more aggressive. I believe if you have your female spayed they live just as long as males do.

i'd reccomend a female dog because males are harder to train since they hike their legs and pee all over furniture. and it doesn't matter what sex the dog is, it's just gonna live til the expected age limit. and any dog is gonna like kids. and the longest living dog is the Austrailian sheepdog. the oldest one lived to be 28!

They are both good. Get the one that falls in love with you and your family. Give them the puppy test. You want one that will let you turn it over on his or her back without a fight. That's a really good temperament test. Best of luck;^)
