Was Jesus thinking to himself "I'll really show them, when God brings me off this cross and smites the bastards silly!"?

Cause when God didn't save him didn't Jesus start yelling "What's up with this?"?

To this day a lot of church people think Jesus died for their sins, but maybe he wasn't planning on dying just then. Maybe he had other ideas...

Replies from Bible scholars and others appreciated.

No, Jesus knew exactly what His purpose was..
He came to fulfil old testament prophecy..
Jesus gave His life willingly, so mankind could be redeemed back to fellowship with our creator and Father - God...
God could not look upon His son Jesus on the cross because He (Jesus ) took our sin upon Him..because God is Holy...this is why Jesus cried out to His Father ( God )"why have you forsaken me"
Jesus was the perfect sin offering(old testament)

A thought for you to ponder..if you had been the only one on earth, Jesus would still have suffered and died for you alone...blessings to you...

When Jesus died on the cross he knew he was going to die... he didn't have to do it if he didn't want to. He also told his disciples that "In a little while you will no longer see Me, and again after a short while you will see Me" John 16:16 . John 16:17-33 that they (disciples) would grieve and be in mourning for him..but that would only be temporary because he knew he was going to be resurrected on the third day, when he would appear 3 times to his disciples, and he also let them know that even after he had returned to Heaven that he would not leave them alone and that he would send the Holy Spirit to comfort them. You can find all this in the new testament..Matthew, Mark, Luke.. I like John personally.

I have always thought that Jesus knew that he would be betrayed and that he would die. I believe, if I am not mistaken, that his lament to God could be paraphrased like this: Oh God, why do you forsake me now. Take me now, I am in such pain.

I think he was asking God why it was taking so long for him to die. And he questioned him, "Why do you forsake me now."
By the way, I am no kind of Bible scholar. But, this is what I think he was saying.

no, Jesus knew his purpose was to die for the sins of mankind so man can have a relationship with God. Alot of what Jesus said like "God, why have you forsaken me?" was to fulfill old testament prophecy

Jesus said all along that He had to be sacrificed for the people's sins. He said that was why He came. He never deviated from His mission.

He knew what he was in for.
He didn't expect God to pull him off the cross.
I'll bet it was quite frightening when all of those people saw him three days later, don't you think?

Jesus knew he was going to die. He said "It is finished." Then his body died. Jesus still lives today.
