You are right- Orthodox Jews do not believe in Jesus. he is not a prophet, teacher, rabbi or anything at all. In fact, he is just one of literally hundreds of false messiahs that have risen out of Judaism and then failed to do what the Messiah is meant to do.

And beware of online religion quizzes (this isn't the one at beliefnet is it?) They are fun- but hardly indicative of reality and defintiely not something to change your life over! if you want to learn about Judaism, try http://www.chabad.org or http://www.aish.com If you want to know why Jews do not believe in Jesus- the following short book is online at Jews for Judaism (a counter missionary organisation)
"The Real Messiah" by Rabbi Aryeh Kaplan http://www.jewsforjudaism.org

Most orthodox jews do believe in Jesus, but, what they believe is wrong, so they say. They believe that Jesus was a "good person", maybe even a "prophet", but certainly not the "Son of God".
But on the other hand, there are many Jews that are Christians and surely believe that Jesus is the Son of God. Obvously, these are not "orthodox" jews.

The Jews believe that Jesus was here, but that he was a man. They were praying for a Messiah to rescue them from their oppression.
When Jesus arrived, many believed he was the Messiah. That's why he was crucified. He didn't fulfill what they thought he was sent to do. They wanted war and bloodshed and freedom and he preached peace and getting along. This was not the message the Jews wanted to hear, so didn't believe.

I have talked with Messianic Christians who identify as Jewish. The Jewish community doesn't consider them Jewish as they aren't practicing Judaism but a form of Christianity. No Orthodox Jew believes Jesus is the promised Messiah. If they do, they've become a Christian

Of course not.

That's like asking if Catholics believe that the Book of Mormon is valid scripture.

As for the post above this one, that is false. We do not recognize Jesus as anything. Neither the Messiah, nor son of G-d, nor a prophet, nor a rabbi.

I'm Jewish, and BMCR is correct. We believe that Jesus was a rabbi--he certainly was Jewish to begin with--but he is not a prophet and he was *not* the messiah. I encourage you to e-mail me with any other questions you might have; I'd be happy to answer. However, to be Jewish you'd have to give up the belief in Jesus as part of the divinity.

They believe in Jesus existence. They do not believe in him as the Messiah or the Christ.

We believe that, yes, a man named Jesus once existed. It's a historical fact.
Do we believe that he anything more than that? Nope. Even saying he was a rabbi is pushing it.

We belive he was a rabbi of historical import; prophet is pushing it, and messiah, no way by Orthodox Judiasm.
