No. Jesus was crucified because, as a spiritual master, He agreed to accept the punishment for the sins of His disciples. They committed many offenses, but Jesus was so compassionate, He took their suffering for them. Just as a parent accepts the consequences for the behavior of their children, or a teacher accepts the responsibility when their students fail, a spiritual master knows that His disciples will make mistakes as they are learning, so the master accepts the reaction. But, the students should not continue to committ offenses on the strength of the master. No one can claim to "Love" Jesus, if they are thinking that Jesus accepts the punishment on their behalf, but then keeps committing offenses anyway. God will not allow this. After all, Jesus is beloved by God.

It is not possible for Jesus to have died on the cross, and then be seen years later, in the same body, after ascending into heaven. Jesus did not alter the laws of God, He fulfilled them. Jesus said that there is nothing material in the spiritual kingdom, so His material body would have remained on Earth, and decomposed, had He ascended into heaven. But He was seen on the road to Damascus, wounds healed, in the same body. Therefore, He did not die on the cross. Evidence for this is revealed in the gospels. The soldier pierced His side, and He bled. Dead people don't bleed. Also, it was unusual that His legs weren't broken. Jesus was Jewish, and His family wanted to bury Him before the Sabbath began at sundown on the day He was crucified. Ordinarily, the condemned would have his legs broken, to speed the process, but Jesus remained intact. He was also given a "bitter" drink, possibly a sedative, that allowed Him to appear dead.

In any case, it was His teachings that will allow us into heaven. He said, "If you Love me, you will obey me". He did not say, "but even if you don't obey me, you can go to heaven". Is heaven that cheap? God does not make sacrifices. Why should He? It is backward to think that God allows the perfect to accept the punishment for those who have the free will to obey, and yet do not. God reciprocates. Jesus was perfect, and serves God with all of His heart, mind, and body. God's affection is perfectly reciprocated. In order to have that relationship, we must do as Christ does. This is what Christ taught.

Jesus went to the cross to restore fellowship between God and His lost sons and daughters; by starting a new creation (a truly harmonious cosmos) where righteousness reigns.
