Apparently this is what my dad wants to purchase for his television. I was all for it until he took us to see it and saw the price tag and I thought he was joking (unfortunately he wasn't). I was wondering if anyone owns the system or has heard how it plays before. Is it worth the money?

The 3-2-1 is the most disappointing system in the Bose product line. I use to sell them and customers at that store returned them about half the time. The main complaint was that the "surround effect" was very poor. Less expensive Home Theater in a Box systems worked much better. A high-end store I worked for for several years had to drop Bose since we could not sell it once customers compared Bose to equally priced or less expensive systems that sounded much better than Bose (we sold Kef, NHT, Boston Acoustics, Monitor Audio, and M&K speakers). In short, the 3-2-1 is not worth the money. That said, if it is what your dad wants that is the bottom line.

If you want quality, audio pure sound, than Bose is not the answer, if you want something small that doesnt require a lot of wires, and can't integrate with other devices, and sounds tinny and marginally ok then Bose is fine, if you want quality you have to make some sacrifices, ie running wires, you can hire a professional, to hide those wires, with the extra money the bose 3-2-1 would cost you....

Hi there .Bose is one of those products that generate a lot of controversy.People either love them or hate them. They are fairly expensive for a minimalist system making speakers smaller and smaller for the sake of aesthetics.Quality wise you can get much better with other components from different manufacturers,But i guess it is up to your your dad if he really wants it.

Go to the local BOSE showroom and listen. They are in almost any decent mall.
