A Marlin or a Savage. The Rugers are nice too. PAWN SHOP!! .22's are everywhere and they can get really cheap. Seen a few nice ones go for 25 Dollars, just because someone needed some cash in a hurry! Save the rest for ammo, which is also cheap!

I agree with the used gun. Most people won't abuse a .22, at it's generally used for target practice or squirrel hunting and you won't really have to worry about the rifling being worn. The best thing about used guns is that you should have a chance to shoot it to see how it functions and groups before you buy it. If you buy from an individual, you'll come out much better than buying from a pawn shop.

Ruger 10/22, You cant go wrong with it, always has been top .22 rifles out there, I just bought my first .22 which was a Ruger and I am happy with it, You will regret not getting one. Cheap, Inexpensive, and FUN.

Marlin is a good one, but I bought a norenco a few years ago, for the price, is the most accurate one I ever owned. Its a bolt action, and will put all the shots in withen a 1/4 inch at 25 yards.....

Buy a used one and save $$$$$$$$*. That way you have your pick at whatever brand you decide on*. I bought all my firearms used, all 22 Rifles, Shotguns, Pistols and revolvers*. NO REGRETS*.

depends on what cheap is savage and marlin both make bolt actions around 180-220 range new england firearms (nef) also makes single shots for around 100-150

Savage MK II bolt-actions can be had for @100 bucks and are very accurate and have solid claw extractors.

i got a sterling semi auto .22 for $500 new zealand. its very accurate plus its a stainless steal barrel so it wont rust.
