on windows pcs you go to something like microsoft word or works or some kind of word processor.......where do you go on a mac?

you know how on a windows pc, you use microsoft word or works or wordpad to type a paper. is there anywhere on a mac you can do that? if not, is there any free and/or cheaper software i can buy or download for it? i'm just going to start college so price is an issue.

You can get for free OpenOffice.org. It is a Office clone designed for Unix, Linux, OSX, Tiger, Windows, and more! It is almost 100% compatible with Office files. It IS 100% compatible with files made in OpenOffice. Naturally!

You can use Microsoft Office X, which doesn't come with the Mac, but is definetly worth the money. You would buy it here:

If you'd like to, download Open Office, which is a free version of "Office". It has the programs that Office has, but is a bit worse, and is free. Here's a link:
