I have two dogs in an apartment with a balcony. I adopted one of my dogs 2 weeks ago and he is 2 years old. The dog I just got 2 weeks ago will only urinate and poop when we are going on a walk and he will not go on the balcony, while my other dog goes in both places. I even didn’t take him out on a walk for a long time, so he would on the balcony (his crate is right inside the house, but it is opened up to balcony, so he go out anytime he wants), but this didn’t work. I don’t know what to do. I want him to go on the balcony too, because sometimes late I night to fall asleep accidentally and then have to wake up in the middle of the night to walk the dog for fear of a bladder infection. The dog was neutered two weeks ago and lifts his leg to urinate, which my other dog does not do, does this have something to do with why he isn’t on the balcony? What should I do to train the dog go on the balcony? Is it possible? Thanks!

I purchased one of the fake fire hydrants that is has a sent to attract dogs to pee, but this dog still does not want to go on the baloney. I have been trying to train him to urinate and poop on command, but I think it will take a while and I have been completely unsuccessful thus far.

The dog has been trained for outside

The dog lifting his leg the highest is the leader of the two. If you see it going back and forth then you may have a potential dog fight sooner or later..

Good Luck

You need to keep working on training the dog to use the balcony. Two weeks is very short time. It sounds to me like the dog is marking when on a walk and you should not allow the dog to do that. Do not allow the dog to pee when out walking. Keep it on the balcony until it does its business, then go into the praise mode. By allowing the dog to do pee on walks it will not have anything left and won't ever understand about the balcony.

Dogs do not want to poop and pee where they live and he considers this to be part of where he lives.

I don't think you should train him to pee and poop there. I think you should walk him often enough that he can do it on his walks.
