So the other day I went with my mum to visit some her friends and they say ' oohhh , she's so beautiful... just gorgous ' ( talkin bout me, hadn't seen them in a while) Grrr, then mum blurts, ' yeah, she's ( hesitantly) p-retty, she said with a flat expressionless face. I'm like wt? not that it really matters but I get compliments everywhere I go nearly and stuff.... sometimes unfortunantly. Was harassed throughout school & life now that I look back on those days, BUT when your own mother does not even want to accept that. argh! What do you think was going through her head? She's also overprotective & smothering at times. So Q : can you explain the behavior? a Q for mother's especially who have daughters, or blooming daughters, open to everyone though. I just don't know what she thinks of me at times!

There are some mothers that cannot accept that their daughter is prettier than her. Or they are jealous.
It's either that, or she worries about your safty. Who knows. Have you asked her? n

The reason she does this is NOT to hurt you hon, although it seems like it.She does NOT want the fact that you are pretty to go to your pretty little head.Why? Most girls don't handle it too well, they get big headed and think they can control a guy with seduction when the case is it works BOTH ways.Also seduction only gets you from point "A" to point "B"(B for Bedroom) with a guy and that's where your power ends and a lot of times, you are left standing alone holding a baby he won't claim.Also, even when a girl doesn't get pregnant, if she becomes a control freak and wants everything her way 100% of the time or else theres a line of other guys drooling outside the door to threaten her guy with emotionally to get her way., then eventually she goes through men like a laxative goes through diareah.In the end she dies alone with people wondering"why couldn't a good looking woman like her keep a guy"?

My wife was adorably cute. All the guys (and other gals) thought so too. But her mother always put her down. I just think that her mother did not want to have the competition. It took me years to convince my wife that she was cute. She had no self esteem bec of this. Don't let your mother cut you down. You know you are pretty and you are the ONLY one that needs to acknowledge that fact.

I think she is trying to keep your ego in check. Yes you are probably nicer than average looking. Let's wait until you win Miss America before deciding you are drop dead gorgeous.
