I love our troops so much that I want them home safe on American soil, back with their families and loved ones. Do you love them enough to carpool a few times a week or turn down your air conditioning or take slightly shorter showers, stuff like that? If every single American minimizes their energy consumption by just a little, we can reduce our dependence on foreign oil, and go back to being a strong and self-reliant country again. For me, these small sacrifices are the most patriotic thing we can do for our brave soldiers overseas and for future generations. I love America! Do you?

Sure, that's fine.
BUT.... the important thing is to vote Democrats out of office so that we can drill for oil in Anwar, Off Shore, and on Oil Rich Government Land.
Democrats are one of the main reasons why gas prices are so high.
They get millions of dollars from the Environmentalists every election to keep us from drilling Our Own Oil.

Where do you get the idea that bringing the troops home will save lives? If anything it will make matters worse, and the casualty rate would skyrocket. We need all of the troops fighting this war, the biggest complaint I hear from the guys that have been over there is we do not have enough people there to effectively do the job. We need to be on the offensive and winning instead of concentrating on how to lose. You want a nuclear bomb going off near you? Al Queda has promised you this. They must be defeated you moron!

Do you honestly believe that lowering your energy consumption would bring the troops home. Sorry, I don't believe it, Bush will do anything he can to prove himself to daddy.

If it's the oil that your so worried about then why not buy it from Canada we have lots, but it's apparently cheeper from other countries.

They tried telling us to cut back on using electricity because they wanted us to have enough, so everyone did, and guess what happened, now they are complaining that they arn't making as much money because we arn't using enough and we pay for what we use. So what did they do... they raised the price of electricity to be able to make the same amount of money as before we cut back.

The same thing will happen in the US, you cut back they will find another way to get it, we won't be bringing our troops back as long as the current governments are in place. And I don't just mean in the US, in many countries.

We all want our troops back safe and sound, it's just the gov't that is procrastinating, we can't change that unless we vote them out.

Yes, I love America too. We are likely to be involved in Iraq for a long time, regardless of the outcome of the 2008 elections.

If we would drill in the Alaskan arctic and more in the Gulf of Mexico, we could increase self-reliance. The demand for oil will not just end, we need petro if our economy is to continue to grow. Some use of agri fuels is good, but oil based gasoline is still cheaper to refine and transport. Why should we focus on more costly fuels? That will just drain our economy.

A combination of energy self-reliance and conservation is the best solution, but they will not end our involvement in Iraq.

You love our troops but you don't understand what they are doing or why they do it.

War is distasteful, no one knows that better than the soldier in the field. But as bad as war is, living in fear and subjugation is far worse. make no mistake about it: this fight is not about oil or Haliburton as the Lib press keeps screaming, it is about the survival of our way of life.

The Insurgents fighting our men and women in Iraq are the same ones we fought in Afghanistan, Bierut, and Somalia. These are the same group who highjacked planes, blew up buildings and killed hostages. They may all be from gruops of different name, but the root of their hatred, their goal is the same: to kill all who refuse to worship Allah the exact way they say.

I say, if you love our troops, let them do their very challenging work without politicizing it or accepting the anti-Bush lies that seek to undermine support for the war. We didn't start this war, and it won't end in Iraq. Win or lose, this fight is gonig to go on for many years to come.

Awwww geeeeeesh, another "War for Oil" nut job. Haven't you done ANY research on this topic? I would guess NOT!
The U.S. gets only about 3% of its oil from the Middle East, most coming from Canada, or South America.
I'd love to see the end of the war in Iraq, but only, and ONLY when we have finished it the right way.

I would commit to lowering energy use to save my own money, however this has to correlation to bringing troops home from Iraq and/or saving lives.
