Everyone dreams several times every night, its part of the normal sleep pattern. However the mind can be extremely active during dreaming, and if you have stressful issues going on in your life, say work for example, then you may be having more intense dreams which will not leave you fully rested in the morning. One thing that may help is if you have anything troubling you, or important things you have to remmeber the next day, try writing them down before you go to sleep. Knowing you have written them down means you body can rest safe in the knowledge that the problems won't be lost in the morning and can be dealt with then when you are fully rested.

We actually dream all night long. However, our deepest sleep (and the most restfull sleep) is REM (rapid eye movement) and in that state we don't remember our dreams. When we move out of REM (usually around 6 or 7 in the morning) we are in a "shallower" state of sleep in which we can remember some of our dreams. If you don't get much REM sleep, for whatever reason, you wake up feeling less rested and more likely to remember the last dreams you had.

I think I know what you're talking about. But sometimes when I wake up and I don't remember dreaming, I feel like I just blinked. An OTC sleep aid didn't help, so I tried a 1/2 dose of Dramamine. It usually helps. This seems to happen because of monthly hormonal fluctuations with me. You'll want to double check with your m.d. Try noticing how much this happens from month to month.
