hes 3 months, ive had him for 5 days, and he only eats pellets from my palm, but i cant feed him all the time by my hand. how do i get him to eat out of the bowl on his own. he only eats seed from the bowl.

1. if you put the bowl in your hand he will probably eat the food and if he does.....2.the next feeding time put your hand where the food bowl normaly is ,and if he eats it there .....3.try setting the bowl down and hopefully he will eat his food out of the bowl. if this fails i suggest repeting 2 and 3 for a couple days. :)

Sounds like he has been taught to take food from your hand to help him get ready to be someones pet . Try to find at least one time a day to hand feed him and give him that attention .. He will adjust to the new way of getting his food in a short time just be patient .

dont feed him from ure hand any more ...not until he eats from his bowl ..and if he hungrey he will ...take the seed out the bowl and put pellets in ....it will work

mix the pellets in with the seeds.

hi well this is easy, cockatiels by nature are ground eaters so dont worry its comes natural most small birds eat off the ground anyway even mine no need to worry as long as they are eating? right thanks paula

try putting some on the floor of cage they like to peck at the floor mine do
