That all depends, when referring to beef stoganoff, some mean, that the egg noodles are already included in the dish. Some just refer to the meat, sauce and mushrooms. Personally, i like stroganoff without the noodles over toasted Italian bread.

Daisy, I'll be right over, I just bought a loaf of store bought bread and in the absence of noodles, linguine or jasmine rice a nice slice of fresh white bread will do. I also have a bottle of homemade Mustang Grape Wine that should compliment that Beef Stroganoff. I plan to thaw out some Shrimp Gumbo and make a fresh pot of rice for supper.

I have never seen anyone serve this over mashed potatoes, mostly wide egg noodles or white rice.

It's best if served over egg noodles. Mashed potatoes are ok though. I add a tablespoon of caraway seeds to my noodles.

We prefer egg noodles but rice or mashed potatoes can be tasty as well.

you can but it will be quite heavy!!
I like beef stroganoff with white rice and french fries ( I don't usually ear fried food but this an exception , it tastes great with stroganoff), a bit of hot sauce to spice it up!
