People like to take the actions of people calling themselves muslim and say that it's ISLAM. They don't think that maybe, just maybe, the name-only muslims went against the teachings. They see something on the news, and say "Oh, ok, this is what they are all like".

Ok, let's do this. We keep hearing on the news how American women are murdering their children. Microwaving them, cutting off the babies' arms, drowning them in bathtubs, strapping them into their carseats and sending a car into a lake, or giving birth to them at work in the bathroom and throwing them in the trunk of a car in the middle of winter.

So should I derive, from daily news reports, that all American women will kill their children even from the moment of birth?

No? That's stupid you say? I can say the same about those who watch the news and derive the same of everything else. Doesn't feel too great, does it? BTW, I am an American woman, a Muslim American, and I would die for my kids safety.

I wonder sometimes why people call US brainwashed, when all some people need to make a concluson about one of the worlds largest religions is hypocritical American Media, who delibrately put a radical Muslim (doing his dirty workin the name of Islam.. but which is not Islam) to increase their ratings. They put someone on TV who is either not a Muslim and claims to have studied the Quran and Islam... ( even though if you study it in dept that much you would see the true essence of Islam... peace). Or they put a Muslim who doesn't know what he/she is talking about. Forgetting how many people convert to Isam each day, and the people who claim muslim women are oppresed.. the ratio of a woman converting to Islam to a man is 5:1 ! ... Also.. History repeats itself.

First everyone was attacking African Americans forcing them into slavery, then came turn for the Jews with the holocaust, then the Asains and all the crap they went through, the Irish, the Russian and Mexican with the immigration policies.... AND WOMEN who had to fight so hard just to get the right to vote while Muslim women were given that right during the time of the prophet ( and countless others).

So ... If it's not one person, it's another... SO we have to start making up our own mind and stop letting others do it for us. Also one last statement... In islam a women and Man both are judged based on their actions being a Muslim isn't a direct ticket to salvation. You have to earn it an those abusing the name of Islam to sin ( Muslim extremists) are hypocrites and will be given their punishment rest assured.

Jazak Allah Khair sister fr the post may ALLAH reward you

You see, it's like this. People usually believe what they want to believe and do not believe what they don't want to believe. People who hate Muslims do that, they generalize everything and say that all Muslims are terrorists and all Muslims are this and that. I believe that it all depends on God for them to believe or not. Some will eventually believe and some will remain in their state no matter what happens.

I don't know why Muslims get angry when people say that all Muslims are this and that. We should not care, we should try to reason with non-Muslims and show them the right path, but if they refuse, we just have to leave them alone. That's the teaching of Muhammad (PBUH)

Yeah, I hate that people do that. It's human nature, though. Every one of us has things about us that make people automatically jump to conclusions and lump us in some category where we don't necessarily belong. Some of mine are: Christian (freak, judgmental, pushy, non-thinking, crazy, etc.), Born Again Christian (same), Evangelical Christian (same), Jesus Freak (same), conservative (judgmental, closed-minded, Christian Right, etc.), breastfeeding-to-toddler attachment parenting mama (granola, tree hugger, weirdo), blonde (stupid, easy), former model (stupid, easy), female (stupid, b*tchy, back-stabbing, gossipy), stay at home mom (worthless, moocher. lazy, rich, selfish), white (bigot, closed-minded), former administrative assistant (stupid, lazy, uneducated), doctor's daughter (priveleged, spoiled, judgmental), recovering alcoholic (unstable, etc.), American (obnoxious, easy, spoiled), pro-life (judgmental, pushy, radical).

What can we do? Hopefully people will find out through knowing me that those things aren't true, and maybe some opinions will be changed along the way. I know some already have. And I know that I've probably convinced some people that they were right to begin with. But I sure can't spend my lifetime trying to convince them of anything. I know that the only one I have to please is God, and because of Jesus, he is already pleased!

Sorry for your experience of people's ignorance.
