Yes indeed it should be the name of a Saint , I think John-Paul is a great choice, as you have both St.Paul and St.John
Your Confirmation Name should reflect the role, the NEW role you will undertake as a more mature Catholic. Perhaps you would like to take the name of a person whom you admire. Many of the Confirmation Candidates, recognizing the growing bond of love with their parents, take a parent’s name or a close personal friend. The only limit that is placed on your choice is that it must be a Saint’s name, a variation of that name or a name from the Bible. You may also choose your Baptismal name since Confirmation is the completion of the Baptism experience

Yeah it has to be a Saints name as you are becoming a full member and being confirmed into the faith.

You will be blessed with gifts from God, wisdom, understanding etc.

You must go out into the world a new person and proclaim the Good News. Hence the new name.

Just like when Saul was blinded on the road to Damascus he converted and was called Paul.

John Paul is a good choice for this purpose.

Okay."According to the Rite of Confirmation, it is preferred that the name given at baptism be used at the time of confirmation. This indicates the unity of the sacraments of initiation and the nature of baptism as the origin of a Christian identity. Therefore candidates are not required to select a new name for confirmation. A candidate who, of his or her own accord, chooses to claim a name with a Christian meaning, is permitted to use this name in the rite of confirmation." I'm getting confirmed in the fall. So I was asking the same question, until I actually read through the information my church gave me and found that. Hope it helps :D
