Correction.
A .17 caliber rifle. A pellet rifle is second. They're .178 or .176 caliber. It's .17 something, you can look it up on any air rifle site. The .22 caliber would be the third smallest.

Yeah, a .17 they use a lot in Aus. for vermin, and boy does that baby hustle at more than 4000ft/sec, how's that for hydraulic shock. :)

As far as "center fire" ammunition goes, the only one i know of that in use is the .17 cal. FAST and accurate.
