Adam and Eve had sons and daughters. (Gen. 5:4)

Adam and Eve had many sons and daughters. (Gen. 5:4) Also, there were others on the earth not produced by Adam and Eve. God only told us how he made the first man and woman. He didn't feel the need to repeat the story over and over. Adam & Eve were the first...............There were more people in other lands. That is why God placed the Mark of Cain on Cain so other people wouldn't kill him. The Bible just didn't mention these other people. If you read further, you will see that Adam lived 930 years and had other sons and daughters. presumably Eve lived at least as long. You can have alot of kids in 900 years.

I gave the following answer a few weeks ago to a similar question, hopefully it will be useful.
Genesis chapter 1 through chapter 2 verse 3 is an overview of the 7 days of creation. Chapter 2 verses 4-25 is a more detailed account of God's creation of mankind.
In Genesis 1:28 God gives the command for Adam and Eve to fill the earth (be fruitful and multiply). From this moment to the story of Cain and Abel in chapter 4, we do not know how much time elapsed. We know that Adam lived over 900 years and that they were told to fill the earth; so we don't know how many children and grand children were born before Cain and Abel (no where does the scripture say that they were Adam and Eve's first children); so at this point, there could possibly be thousands of men and women spread across the land. Also, Genesis 3:20 tells us that Eve was the mother of all living. To those of you that would consider this incest, this took place over a 1000 years before the law was given to Moses which condemned incest. This was God's way of filling the earth with humanity.
Time and space would not allow me to get in depth with this subject, but I've tried to answer with respect toward your question, which is a good question.

After many children were born, they obviously intermarried, so Cain would have married his sister or cousin or neice or whatever.

If you read Genesis 4, Cain was afraid of someone finding and killing him. Cain went and took a wife. Etc, etc.
There were others on the earth not produced by Adam and Eve.

Adam and Eve probably had many sons and daughters even though it was not mentioned - they had to populate the world after all. Otherwise the two sons might have had children with their mother Eve, as such an action would not be looked down upon in those dire times.

Back in the old Jewish culture, they didn't document women's names in family trees. Just because the birth of a girl isn't mentioned doesn't mean the person didn't exist. It may seem like the person just popped out of no where but the reason is that they just didn't mention the person's birth. I'm sure mentioning everyone's birth isn't necessary.

The Bible talks about specific things that we should know but it doesn't mention everything that has happened in history. I'm sure a lot of things went on during the time of Jesus but the Bible doesn't mention all of the events.

Hmmm - good question . . .
And - when I was being taught catholic beliefs, I asked the same question . . . the answer I got?
Adam and Eve had lots and lots of kids - and way back in those olden days, they were allowed to marry brothers and sisters . . . as a child, I accepted this information as dogma . . .
Not any more -
Needless to say -
I grew up, learned more of reality, stretched beyond the bounds of human made religious beliefs, and am no longer a believer of all that I am told!!!
