Why is it that Turkey refuses to ackowledge its role in the Armenian genocide? No one is asking for reperations, just that there is an admission of guilt. I understand the embarressment, but isn't important to teach your children the truth, no matter how ugly? What about the Japanese and the Nanking massacre? Do they just stick their heads in the sand and say "la, la, la, it didn't happen!!!"? No one would judge, because whatever judgement was made was done years ago. So come on...fess up and tell the kiddies the truth. It will set you free...

Gunner, if it is so trivial then have them just say it happened and let that be the end of it. instead, they play the denial game. And what is japan's justfication for their behaviour?

It was a War. The Armenians tried to carve out a country from the Ottoman Empire, and failed. There were despicable things done by both sides. The Turks in Armenian held territory were also killed. I fail to see why this non-issue seems to keep popping up. The word genocide did not even exist at the time, nor is it the correct term. If the Ottoman Turks had set out to kill all Armenians, we would not be having this discussion. A revolt was squashed, let it end there.
