If the Earth were to suddenly vanish for whatever reason, maybe from a cosmic impact or getting sucked into a black hole, the universe wouldn't even notice and the creation myth would then be non existant, along with all life on Earth, with a soul or not, atheist or otherwise..
Yet the FACTS of physics would still exist, and the scientific principles and concepts that we use to explain the natural world would still permeate the cosmos, just like it does now, but without humanised concepts of god or creation.
With this 'thought experiment', it is clear that the science we use to describe the natural world is real, and the creation myth is just that, a myth..
How will the creationists answer this? Denial, ignorance, or lies..?
What's it going to be..?

To the religious fruitcakes that have replied here, you must remember that ALL creation myths, including those beliefs that do not have a centralised deity would also vanish.
Evolution IS NOT a creation myth. It make NO attempt to describe the origin of life..!
The Earth has less craters than the moon due to tectonic activity, although many impact craters still survive. This is a frighteningly ignorant remark..!
The elasticity and inventiveness of the creationist arguments are still not in the same league as scientific facts, no matter what they come up with, and only sheer ignorance and denial allows room for their creation myths, as is clearly evident here..

Your physics are Gods laws, and he does not change. As a matter of fact this earth will be done away with. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. Rev 21-4

Well it hasn't happened has it? Look at the moon, it has thousands of craters, look at all the other planets with tons of craters. How many do you see on earth? Not many, and the ones we have you really can't even see from space. Yet if evolution is true we should has been hit by thousands of flying rocks by now over the last million or so years. Are we just lucky? Or is someone looking out for us, and did someone put all these satilites in space to detract any comet or meteor from hitting our earth fately? I would have to say it is to remarkable to say it's all a trillion to one chance we have survived.

You are saying that facts exist with or without our knowledge.
Fact:
1. something that actually exists; reality; truth:
2. something known to exist or to have happened:
3. a truth known by actual experience or observation; something known to be true:
4. something said to be true or supposed to have happened:
The existence of facts presupposes knowledge. It isn't that "our" knowledge permeates the universe. The facts are already existing. How did these factual circumstances come to be? If you are thinking that facts simply "are", without considering the origin, then your thinking is limited to the effect, not the cause. If facts have no origin, then "fact" is synonymous with "truth". This is, in essence, God, Who is the original cause of all causes. Of knowledge, God is the knower, or Fact.

No the THEORY of evolution would be gone. For how can you look at the infinite complexity of life and say this was made of millions of years, not even in a million years could you get through all the incalcuable incorrect combinations of matter to get to the only one that allows life to exist and even if you get through that then you have to create exact enviroment for life to live. This could not be done by random chance.

You must also accept that our Theory of Evolution is also a Creation Myth. If you went back in time and asked the Greeks what their Creation Myth was, they would stare at you blankly. But if you asked them "How did things come to be this way?", they would tell you the story of Uranus or something. Likewise, ask yourself, "How did things come to be this way?" That's your Creation Myth.
Either way, the Laws of Physics are more of a God to me than anything else.

Well then i'd be kinda dissapointed and prolly not beleive there was a God anyways cos we got sucked into a black hole.. that's just taking cruel to a whole new level... unless of course it brings us to a different dimension and while on the topic of big "IFS" what IF in that dimension God was there? HMMMM interesting?
Also take into consideration what ever life happens to occur somewhere else in the universe chances are they'd have their own theories on creation and maybe they'll be scientists as well... IF they're lucky.

Oh, the universe would notice if the earth was gone. The remaining planets, sun, moon and stars would be singing the fat woman's song knowing that it was all finished. They are smarter than man. The remaining universe knows why they were created.

Well if I read this right and the earth vanished, then there would be no scientists or creationists to sweat this issue.
My personal thought is why is it everyone wants to prove themselves right why not agree to disagree? I believe I was created, if you want to belive you evolved from an ape thats you right to believe what you want I wont try to change your mind and you won't change mine.

Yes with THAT, 'thought experiment', I guess it is clear,
but now, you have to still prove that 'thought experiment'.
So, the debate continues.
