This is the first product that MS has put out that I think I actually like. I've had some minor compatibility issues, but they've already been resolved by the respective manufacturers. The interface is slick and intuitive, the security is great, and the fact that a virused and trojaned user can just be deleted without compromising your install is great.
I had some teething issues, the slow drive and copy times and whatnot....but the hard drive indexes everything in the first couple of weeks...and performance seems to get faster and faster. I can type to search for something on my drive and it will pop up before I can finish typing the query.
I know everyone's been complaining about Vista...it is buggy, it is bloatware, it is this, it is that....the funny thing is that I can recall the exact same things and the exact same arguments when XP came out....and now those users are saying XP forever and whatnot.
I'm running a decent system....Core 2 Duo and 2 gigs of ram and whatnot....so perhaps the teething isn't so bad since I have power to throw at the OS, so to speak. I don't think it is a bad thing to write software for the next generation of PC hardware, and have it mesh at that edge, sort of thing. There are a lot of people who are going to complain it is slow, etc....but in six months time, with updates, fixes, and the better hardware that will exist, period....I think these complaints will go away.
Stability wise and bells and whistles wise...I'm pretty happy. This is from a former mac user who switched for the games.

I will agree that MS Vista has issues.. But, I still say that Windows ME is the worst thing ever.
Just give Vista time to come up with bug fixes and stuff for it to work the way that you want it to.

Yeah, I heard some bad things about Vista, but I have not personally used Vista, so I am not sure, I am just going by word of mouth.

Yes, It is bad. It was over hyped and put into service way to soon. It has many problems. I removed it from my computer. I also heard that Microsoft is getting ready to release a service pack already. That's a sign that they know they have problems with it too.

seeing that the product is way too new, you need to give it more time, the first version is always the worst and the people that purchase this are the test subjects that make it better or break it all together

Not me, been running it for over 4 months. No problems so far. It faster, safer, and way more stable then XP. It's a good OS, I like it.
