Pregnancy in Islam?

Question

Did you know that contraception in Islam is allowed? And used widely? Why is it that some religions forbid it, when it's harmful to the mother's health? Islam has stated that children should nurse for 2 years, and for many women when nursing, this stops ovulation. Not all, but a great many. There is a reason for this. The woman's body needs to recover, and even two years later she still may not be fully recovered in terms of nutrition. She also needs to get back into shape for her health, and there are recommendations on that, but nursing is one major thing that helps a woman's body recover. I don't get why some religions care only about getting a baby, and nothing for the one who brings it into the world. I know some men who even say "The woman did not bring the baby, God did". Speaking as a mother of two, I can definately say that it was my body that did it. The men in the religions who forbid this are ogres. What sense does it make?

You should also know that how liberated Islam makes a women. She doesnt ave to take her husbands last name, her husband cant take a penny from her earning and even after divorce her dowry cannot be taken back.

What oppression are you talking about? The kind that tells western women they must reveal their cleavage and legs to be considered beautiful... Beauty eventually fades, people get old and the only thing thats left eventually is the HEART.

The HEART is something We choose to preserve hun. Not our bodies. and we keep our bodies for one man. ( and now you can tell my why so many western women are labled whores)

And don't come here degrading the prophet Muhammad. Aisha was not 6 nor 9 she was 19 and its a proven numerical mistake and you can be sure I will be posting evidance of this soon ( and you can add me ) just so you are assured.

The only thing I can say is that even a scholar who studies Islam all his life isn't always right. and if at the end after studying Islam you find t to be not peaceful.. then you don't know the meaning of Islam.

I don't know what religions you are talking about. In Christianity contraception is allowed, except in the rom. cath. church. But they do allow natural contraception.

Just as a mother bears a child during pregnancy, and just as a mother feeds and cares for a child during infancy – so mothers also play an ongoing role in the lives of their children, teenagers, young adults, and even fully-grown children. While the role of motherhood must change and develop – the love, care, nurture, and encouragement a mother gives should never cease.

Aslam o alikum sister!..first of all id like to thank you for this piece of information..i didnot know as a muslim woman my self...secondly all i want to say here is that ppl who have gotten the oppourtunity to bash islam are ONLY jealous..they are jealous of the fact that islam actually is a complete religion that gives more rights to a muslim women then annyother religion gives to its women followers..You and i and many muslims know what our faith is..these people who claim to know Islam,i bet they dont even know there own religion..and the irony is such that some of the religions get to be recitified by their own men cause they feel it should not be like that..so with time they keep up dating it...where as the ones who believe in the idol worshipping..what women rights they have..they still are bungled in the caste system that does not allow one to marry the other..because some are better then the others...sweety,dont let these fools get to u..islam is the only COMPLETE religion that takes care not just about the concept of GOD almighty and his prophets but also takes care of the people whom almighty made and gave them complete individual rights..that is the reason a female has more rights then the males...these ppl get stuck on the four wife issue..where as they do not know that they can only marry if the first wife gives permission and that too if the guy thinks he can be just to all of his wives..and then it is also said they he should not marry since a man cannot be just in these affairs..i mean!! ppl who have taken time out to know abt this religion i think they did not pay attention..anyways, they will not listen..as God does not want them to listen so..sweety..u did good..and pay Allah (swt) reward you for this..Jazak Allah.

Well you might as well ask the same question, "why does Islam insist on treating women as objects or sub-humans, instead of bonafide people?" Check it out, I know you know what I am talking about. I've studied Islam for 2 years now (with an open mind) and read ALL the Koran, the Aquida and Fiqh, the Hadith, ect. And I just can't figure out why ANY WOMAN would WANT to be a Muslim???

People who say that this is a religion of peace are real fools. It's NOT. The sad part is that while there are a great many good people who happen to be Muslims, the same cannot be said for people who are "good muslims" (being good people). The reason? Because any person who truly reads what the writings have to say knows that Islam not only promotes terrorism and hatred, it calls it an act of God! Now name me one other religion that does that! (And don't bring up the Crusades, because not only were they explicitly NOT condoned in the bible, but the Muslims started the whole war with horrible atrocities in the first place... time for a history lesson!)

So don't come around here talking like other religions are inferior to Islam. You just tell me why women are expected to wear Hijab, Niqab, Burka, and ect and THEN start talking about women's rights. Tell my why the Koran specifically sanctions the beating of women, then THEN we'll talk.

Until then, if you are a woman, then you are one brainwashed chick and I really feel sorry for you.

PS: You might also try explaining to me why Mohammad married Aisha at age 6, molested her until age 9, when he RAPED her. (It's all in the Koran, hon.) And don't try this lame, "everybody did it back then" excuse, because NOBODY did that back then.

So, you think that other women around the world are "forced" to take their husband's names after marriage? Um ok, but they aren't, and even if they choose to do so, that's better than choosing to go around with a sheet over your head and body! And who the heck said dowry was a decent way of doing marriage anyway? After divorce? Didn't you later say in your answer that muslim women only get ONE man? Then why does HE get FOUR? Hmmmm... If women are so equal in Islam, then why does the woman have to go thru a court process while the man only has to say three words? And why does Sharia law consider a woman's testimony worth only half of a man's testimony? If you really want to be educated, then here are some real scriptures and verses straight out of your Quran:

In Muhammad's time, women's roles were notably inferior to men's. One of the most difficult verses reads: "Righteous women are therefore obedient, guarding the secret for God's guarding. And those you fear may be rebellious admonish; banish them to their couches, and beat them" (Sura 4:34). The Arabic word "beat" or "scourge" does not mean tap lightly; it is the same word used to beat a violent criminal or a camel. Muhammad himself once deliberately struck ‘Aisha "on the chest which caused me pain", according to Sahih Muslim vol.2:2127

In matters of inheritance, women are to receive half of what men receive (Sura 4:11). Men are the "managers" of women (Sura 4:35) and can "come unto [their] tillage as they wish" (sexually) (Sura 2:223); can divorce their wives by stating "I divorce you" three times (2:229-230); and may take more than one wife (4:29).

"Allah's Apostle once said to a group of women : 'I have not seen any one more deficient in intelligence and religion than you. A cautious, sensible man could be led astray by some of you.' The women asked: 'O Allah's Apostle, what is deficient in our intelligence and religion?' He said: 'Is not the evidence of two women equal to the witness of one man?' They replied in the affirmative. He said: 'This is the deficiency of your intelligence'

... 'Isn't it true that a woman can neither pray nor fast during her menses?' The women replied in the affirmative. He said: 'This is the deficiency in your religion.'

Muhammad said, "I was shown the Hell-fire and that the majority of its dwellers are women. " Vol. 1:28, 301; Vol. 2:161; Vol. 7:124

Now, why WOULD any sane women want to believe all this?? I would say if she hasn't been raised in Islam, then she has a serious mental problem.

Please share with us exactly HOW birth control is somehow good for a woman or that lack of birth control is somehow harmful to a woman. You can't make a blanket statement like that without some kind of backup evidence.
Here's a piece of evidence for you. When a woman goes on the birth control pill, she increases her risk of getting an STD by TEN TIMES. Now please tell me how birth control is a good thing.
