The refrigerator is not the best choice for storing your potatoes. They need a cool rather than a cold environment and a dark one. They need the air to circulate between them. The best place is in a pantry away from the light or in a cellarway or in a potato bin. If you are buying the potatoes in a plastic bag, also bad because of the lack of air circulation, you'll be better off transferring them to a paper bag to keep out the light which turns the potatoes green.

Yes you can I keep mine in the fridge you can literally keep them for months. Also healthier as makes them have a lower score on the glycemic Index. I have not noticed any major taste change either.
In Reality you can keep potatoes where ever you want you must have a dark hole where you can put them.

Put them in the fridge cleaned of soil, unpeeled and dried of excess water. Eat them within 4 days. Don't buy too many otherwise you'll have a fridge full of potatoes!!!

Yes keep them un peeled but out there bag in the wee drawers at the bottom for vedge. Layer of kitchen roll on bottom of drawer to soak up any moisture and stop the vedge rotting. Everyones doing it nowadays with the warmer summers.

either way; my grandma keeps them in the fridge in a vegetable drawer; my mom keeps them in a paper bag in the kitchen - if they grow 'white things', you can take them off easily, just rub it with your hands;
those white things are sprouts -- you can actually cut a potato up, leaving one or two sprouts per piece, and then plant each piece and you'll grow lots and lots of potatoes;

I wouldn't. They can turn quickly. It also messes with the taste, IMO. I have a similar problem in my home - I have no cool place to store them this time of year, so I only buy what I can use within a week.

if you have peeled them - put in bowl, cover with cold water and teaspoon of salt or lemon juice to stop browning.
if unpeeled, keeping them in fridge affects the taste as starch turn to sugar in cold temps. I put mine in brown carrier/paper bag and put in dark garage. if temp here is warm they will start to sprout though.

if you've peeled them you can, but do not put salt in the water, because they will go brown.if you already did wash them in cold water.when you are ready to use them give potatoes a rinse and change water.keep them no longer than 48 hours.also unpeeled too.
