Can we predict whether next week will be warmer or colder than this week? Can we know the temperature of a single square yard of space anywhere outdoors to within a degree when there are fluctuations every ten seconds? So how can we say the earth will be one degree more in ten years when there are so many variations, pertubations and possibilities?

Climate prediction is as precise as astrology. Both use calculations and models that don't seem to corespond to any form of real prediction of outcomes.

I never liked Bush and Republicans smell but you know what? I'm awful glad the US did not join the Kyoto Protocal. Check this out:

http://politics.guardian.co.uk/green/story/0,,2093850,00.html

Read it all the way through. It will shock you.

Countries following the Kyoto Protocol are encouraged to pollute in order to control CO2 emissions. For instance, toxic mercury light bulbs and other florescent material replacing the light bulb. RELEASING OF THE POISONOUS CHEMICAL HFC-23 INTO THE ATMOSHPERE IS ENCOURAGED to prevent the release of natural CO2. Carbon credits are big business and oil companies and toxic chemical manufacturers are making big profits.

Yes without a doubt. But not from anything man is doing. How many people realize that the Earth has been warming since the 1850's? That the Earth was Cooling from about the year 400AD, until then.
It was called the "Little Ice Age". I climaxed anount the mid-1800's, and had caused among other things the "Potato Famine" in Ireland, and was linked in a large way to the French Revolution? As Europes temperatures cooled, crops failed, disease grew, starvation occured, and the Population of Europe Declined.
The Earths Temperature dropped by more than 3 Degrees.
Since the Earth began to warm again in the mid to late 1800's, the Temperature has risen about 1 Degree.
And is pretty much rising at a rate that would suggest in the next 200 Years, the Earths Temperature will be roughly the same as it was for most of the Egyptian, Greek and Roman Empires Reign. Where populations grew, Farming and crops were at their Highest point in recorded History. The weather made it possible for sea and land travel due to more moderate temperatures, and produced more Fresh water as the Ice Caps had done some Melting.
If Science and the past 500,000,000 years of Earth and Climate Changes tells us anything, it is that if Glogal Warming got 3 Times Worse than it is today, (We are 1 degree warmer, that the "Little Ice Age", and the Earth ended up 3 Degrees Warmer, same as Roman Times) then we would expect to have Temperatures about the Same as the time of Jesus Christ.
That shoud happen in the next 200 years. Then as the warmer waters bging AGAIN to melt the Polar Ice Caps, more Fresh Water will be released into the Oceans Salt Water, causing Oceans to Cool, then bringing about another "Little Ice Age" over the next several hundred years.

I suggest folks Google the Little Ice Age. Or go to History Channel.com, then use the links to show the 100 years of Published Research on this. The most extensive stidies released in November of 2005.
Just food for thought.
If we want to stop Pollution, then Let's do that. But this whole idea that MAN is causing Global Warming is certainly not back up by Evidence, or the Scientific History of the Earth.
Money should be spent on preparing for the Generations 200-500 years in the future, when NATURE ENDS the Global Warming Cycle AGAIN, and help them prepare for COOLER Temperatures after that.

Bob TV. You are so correct. I don't think folks who talk about Man Made really try to find any other opinion.

Bob: Top Contibutor: We are actually 2 degrees COOLER than in the Time of Christ!!! We are have risen 1 Degree in the last 150 years!!! And the warming Started BEFORE Cars, CO2, and all the rest of the things mentioned. Please at least look at THOUSANDS of other sources including the Earth Science Ministry of Canada, of America and of France...
And as stated, if the Global Warming continues at the "Alarming Rate it Has since 1850" then around the year 2250, 250 years from now, the Polar Ice Caps and the Earth will be the same temperature as it was in the time of Julius Caesar...

It is happening. Peer reviewed proof:

http://www.globalwarmingart.com/wiki/Image:Instrumental_Temperature_Record_png

It's not like the previous natural trends (peer..., ten different studies, with different methodologies. Graph ends in 2004, if it went to 2006, it would be even more impressive)

http://www.globalwarmingart.com/wiki/Image:2000_Year_Temperature_Comparison_png

And it's (mostly) caused by us, burning fossil fuels. More peer reviewed proof:

That's the science. The Kyoto stuff is just politics, not science.

There's vastly less controversy in the scientific community than you might guess from the few skeptics talked about here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_opinion_on_climate_change
http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/full/306/5702/1686 and:

"There's a better scientific consensus on this [climate change] than on any issue I know - except maybe Newton's second law of dynamics. Global warming is almost a no-brainer at this point,You really can't find intelligent, quantitative arguments to make it go away."

its been happening for years already
but not so much in North America and not with such drastic results

What about desertification due to deforrestation ,but speeded up by unusual hot Suns.
Water shortage .Rising seas
Croploss due to temperature changes ,
Heat and cold weaves that are killing people .
Flasfloods .

Mass exstinction of Flora and fauna ,many animals are becoming sick because of SMALL changes in temperature .
Insects are affected and some are going out of control such as the parasites that are killing the bees.
Vital links in the food chains are disapearing affecting other species further along in the chain
.
We are witness to a mass exstinction ,for the first time since the dinosaurs, of the earth's estimated 10 million species, 300,000 have vanished in the past 50 years. each years, 3,000 to 30,000 species become extinct.
Everything is happening so fast it is not possible to monitor things any more.

Global warming is a very complex collection of many effects
This text only covers mainly man made desertification

Industrial contamination ,the contaminating effects of the cities ,is another story

There are natural cycles in the planets life
but mans existance has its effects, and this is increasing with overpopulation, putting strains on Natural resources and increasing contaminations as well as destructions of essential componants the ensure living conditions for all life forms.

In North Africa,India,Mexico ,millions of people are effected by land loss and desertification and some have died as a result.

In china, thousands of what used to be farmers are running for their lives from the dust storms, that have burried their towns and turned their lands into dessert.

The Sahara is growing by 7 kilometers a year
and many of the desserts we know are a results of mans actions .

Collectively this planet´s arable lands are drying up because of bad farming practices like, over grazing and fertilizers,

Each degree rise in temperature means 10%crop loss

There is less and less water (because of deforestation),to irrigate this production ,

Each year 70 million more people have to eat and drink and wash

Farmers are plowing more and more unstable lands because they have lost so many million hectares to desertification ,because of bad farming practises.

RISING SEAS
The northpole is melting ,and we will know it without ice in our life times.
This does not affect the sea level because it is ice that is already in the water.

The melting ice from Green land and the south pole ,are another matter.

http://www.greenpeace.org/international/...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/natur...

If forrest are being exchanged for ashalt, concrete and desserts, what is gonna keep this planet habitable for us.

We as humanity can behave in a less stressful manner as far as the Environment is concerned ,but it will mean global co operation between all countries ,and taking into account human nature and the world politics ,it is unlikely that this will happen.

Warmng? Warmong? Warming?

If you live in the northern hemisphere, I guarantee there will be an easily detectable warming trend in the next couple of months.

Guaranteed.

Take that to the bank.

Certainly. The earth has been going through warming/cooling trends for millions of years, and this will continue.
