I have already found amazing insights in this forum. I have been exposed to all sorts of knowledge and wisdom beyond my own. It's why I come back.
To assert myself with the intention of trying to disprove, or change anyone's beliefs would be in direct opposition to all that I strive to live. So, no, I would hope not.
I do try to discourage those who take a strong stand in a very negative way from sharing those views, but even that is really pretty pointless. It's more for me. Oppression is one of my hot buttons.

I try to keep an open mind, and you'd be amazed at what I have learned, and the insight I've gained since I've been in forums like this one. It might be difficult, but it is not impossible to teach an old lady new ideas...
I am very interested in learning about what other people believe, and why.
I am eternally curious about people. People are fascinating.
Honestly, I am not trying to disprove others' beliefs, so much as hoping that, if I can "shed some light", folks will come to know Jesus and turn to Him for eternal life.
I know I will never do that if I am rude, or condescending. Oh, sometimes someone will say something so irritating that I do respond with a sarcastic answer...sometimes I feel as if a gentle reprimand is sort of called for, and, as a mother and grandmother, I suppose I do sometimes come off as condescending, but I swear, I don't mean to do this.
Again, I try not to sound, as one user put it, "sanctimonious"...but, when we are discussing spiritual things, it is very difficult for any believer to try to explain why they believe as they do without a bit of that creeping in.
I try to be tolerant, but there are some things...like homosexuality...that make me uncomforable, even though I understand that my rules are based on my beliefs, and should not necessarily apply to everyone.
We are asked to walk a very thin line...and sometimes the best of us (which is not me) loses their balance and takes a tumble.
For that, I do apologize.
May God bless you!

Even though I already have one foot in the grave, I'm constantly learning. I have no interest in disproving other's beliefs, but I'm offended when beliefs are forced, or at least attempted onto me.
Yes, for very sure, I'm seeking knowledge. But what it says in the Koran, Bible, Torah, or any other book is not useful knowledge. It only tell us what's in the book. Being in a book doesn't make anything true.

I seek knowledge and understanding and insight. I believe that Jesus is the truth and the way and the life. I might come across as a bully to the people who do not believe like me, but I respect people's choices if they do not violate law's of man and law's of God. God gave us our free will for a reason.

I'm am merely seeking others thoughts and beliefs. I would never seek to disprove those beliefs, except for science as science is not a belief.

When a Person Knows for AN ABSOLUTE FACT that they have the TRUE Religion; then they have a moral obligation to SHARE the TRUE Beliefs with others ! ! !
Actually other Peoples VERY Lives are AT STAKE ! ! !
The Apostle Paul said "Woe to Me if I DID NOT Declare the Good News" ! ! !

A little of both. I do not merely want to refute everything someone else believes, I look to see if we have any common ground and also if they noticed something I didn't.... but I do love analyzing someone's argument and finding the weaknesses and the strong points.

This is a good question.
I think our faith (whatever it is in) is strengthened when it is tried. Some people get that experience through persecution and other kinds of peril. Others seek it out through venues like this one (which is of course nothing like "persecution" but it allows one to have their beliefs tested by coming up against people who believe differently.
I've learned more about what I believe by coming here. I don't think I've changed my belief system and doubt I've changed anyone else, but I've been strengthened by exercising my mind by defending myself and challenging others.
