60 is too young to enforce stricter rules unless there is a specific health issue.

People over the age of 65 should be required to get an eye test and pass a driving test every two years. These should be made annually for people who have a record of moving violations or accidents.

Most people at 60 are still working, ageist! If it is okay for people to be working, paying taxes, raising children, paying for university, what makes you or anybody else think it is old enough to start restricting driving? I turned 60 this year. I will go for a re-test this year IF every driver 21 and under goes for a re-test. They are the group with the highest accident rates. Look at some retesting at 70, and I will support it. Better yet, everybody goes into a pool, and names are pulled at random for retest, regardless of age. Luck of the draw, you could be tested 2 years in a row, or 5 years could pass, but you would have to be on your toes cause your name could come up any year.

Most people over age 60 are excellent drivers. Probably a much better driver than you. They don't need to take any special test.

Now persons over say, 75 or 80 might need to be tested more often. But it varries from person to person. Friends and family really need to be the ones to tell such a person that they can't drive.

should a 16 yo that has an accident have to take the test again? Or should their license be held until 21? Who has the greatest risk of having an accident a teen or someone 60, I know who pays more insurance.

I believe that after a certain age you should have to retake the driving test every few years. Because their are a lot of older drivers that are a hazard to everyone around them and don't realize it.

But it would be unfair to group everyone over a certain age into the same group and tell them they couldn't drive. Many 60 year olds are in great health and have no problems behind the wheel.

I think that people under twenty-one should not be given driver's licenses, learner's permits or ever be permitted to operate ANY motor vehicle. Over 60's probably have fewer accidents per mile than any other category. If you're going to discriminate against older driver's you're going to have a fight on your hands!

Some recent studies have shown that as a person ages, his reaction times, perception and his ability to perceive threats and/or dangerous conditions slow; however, that study was done on driver's over seventy-five..not sixty!!

I think mandatory retesting for everyone, not merely those over sixty, be done, like every time the license comes up for renewal! I turned sixty in 2006 and I guarantee that I can out drive any young punk on any given day and in any given situation!!

well i suppose so it would make the roads much safer. but to me it sounds like your about 18. and most of the problems on the road are caused by people in your age group so maybe they should take away your license and make you walk for about 5-10 more years? seriously Wait until you get to that age and then ask the same question to your self. I'd bet 1,000.00 that you will say no.
