well you have to be more specific, if you're going from London to New Your, clearly, the train would be more efficient.

Probably the train, because you're not using energy getting people up to 32,000 ft. on a train.

Depends.

I'd vote for a mag-lev bullet train grid across the US powered by nuke energy. REAL expensive and energy-intensive in the short run, but kicks butt in the long run.
