Honestly, I don't know.
Studies have shown that in European countries where children are allowed to have little sips, drinks of alcohol starting at a young age are LESS likely to go nuts and binge drink during college like we do here in America.
Teens in the U.S don't know how to control their drinking and will drive drunk, killing others. Teens consume excessively and get ****-faced drunk. But I think its the system's fault (21 age limit is RIDICULOUS).

In theroy, nothing - but teen usually aren't responsible enough to handle themselves properly.
Children in France drink DO wine - but only a small glass with their dinner (and not every single night).
The largest problem with teenage drinking is that teens don't stick to just one drink - once they get started, it won't end until something goes wrong (usually blacking out/puking). They get too caught up in the rush of intoxication, and they do all sorts of stupid things - driving, unprotected/unsafe sex, fighting... the list goes on and on.
A "responsible" teen should be allowed to have A drink - perhaps a beer with a burger, or a cooler on a hot summer afternoon - but the line has to be drawn there. Despite what they might think, teenagers are NOT mature enough to make every decision that they are faced with...
A lot of it is a cultural thing - if you are told you CANNOT drink, then it's so much more of a thrill when you do! But if a teen has been raised in such a way that they are carefully shown what "evil" things like alcohol are like (and what they can do), then there is less of a chance that they will go out and drink themselves stupid ;)

Teens are still into risk-taking behaviors, which is a disaster when combined with alcohol. When they drink, they drink to excess, they drink and drive, they drink and have sex, they drink basically to get drunk and "have fun."
Some adults behave the same way, but virtually ALL teen drinkers do. I don't know any teens who just have a beer once in a while because they like the taste.

I drank like a fish between the ages of 15 and 18. I've hardly touched alcohol since.
Most of the fun came from getting some beer when we were underage. When that fun was no longer possible, drinking became a bit boring.

I think teenage drinking can be healthy. Teen years are where kids form a lot of their ideas about drinking, so as long as they use it responsibly (seldom, and in moderation) it will reinforce the idea of responsible drinking.
It can work the other way around though too. If you start abusing alcohol as a teen, you're gonna have a much greater chance of ending up an alcoholic.
Teen drinking in and of itself is fine, in my opinion. It's how it's done that counts.

I didn't see a single thing wrong with it when I was a teen and drinking with my friends. Still don't really. As long as they are safe about it.

It is illegal in most places and some studies are suggesting that the younger you are when you start drinking, the more likely you will become alcoholic.

it's wrong coz liquor affects the brain. when it gets into your body, your digestive organs secrete some sort of gas that goes up all the way to your brain causing some irregularities that makes it not function well. it may then make u do things u normally would not do if you are sober.

I could slate you for asking this question but as a teenager, my favourite pastime was drinking as much as i possibly could before being sick all down my pants- great fun.
