Actually yes it is, but it is still carried on as a ritual.
Originally the marriage ceremony was to publicly show ownership to the wife to the husband. Wives were at one time considered the "property" of the husband the same as a donkey, a slave or a house. The wife had little more privilege than other properties. Also, to the early Hebrews, purity of their family was extremely important. When a Hebrew man married a woman she had to be a virgin because if she was not she could have been pregnant with another man's child thereby defiling the man's family. It could also cause inheritance problems as well. At that time Adultery was committed by the woman only. The man whom had sexual relations with a married woman was guilty of theft! They were both to be executed. A man married or not could have sexual relations with as many women or prostitutes as he desired if he were married or not as long as none of the women were married that he had sex with.
Today, Jesus declaired women equal in everything just as a man. He did not bring man down but brought women up to the man's level. A woman, married or not has everybit as much right to have sexual relations with as many men as she desires and it is not adultery. Adultery is the act of taking the spouce away from the husband or wife as the case may be.
I realize many of you will not believe what I have said. but if you check it out or if you wish to email me I will send you all the proof you need to know I am telling you the truth.

No it is not I am a Christian of 17 years, and I got married for the first time in January of this year, to a man who is also and has been a Christian for 20+ years, it was a beautiful ceremony and it was a blessing to share it with our families and friends,

Christianity is consistently "out of date." That's part of the troubles of faith...it takes work and is highly unpopular. But Ask any faithful person and they'll say it's worth the effort.
I suppose the sanctity of marriage doesn't have the luster it once did, simply based on the high rates of divorce in our society. But marriage is in itself no less sacred.

Not in my opinion. Christian marriage is far from out of date. We are not only making a vow to one another and to our families, but also to God.

Yeah sure that is why you have to go to the Church and book your wedding a year in advance in order to get the date you want and half the time you have to share that date with 3 other parties.. so that you have 1pm while one was ahead of you at 11am .. and the other is at 3pm. That hardly sounds like something that isn't happening anymore.
Sounds more like secular wishful thinking again.

It will never be out of date. But your selections are yours and your fiance's choices. If you want a simple ceremony you can still incorporate GOD in your union without having to go to an all-out ceremony. Good luck and congrats!

Not at all - in fact, marriage is currently on the upswing, as people realize that shacking up isn't the best option...

umm no not if that's what you believe, I'm guessing you're not too convinced if you have to ask if it's out of date, but if you're just curious no it's not, I'm a Christian, and I know many Christians who are very happily married, me being one of them
