It is a breaking of the ten commandments and killing is a sin.
If killing is a sin why do some churches say it is okay to go to war? Even saying "that is a brave thing to do?"
Say a murderer died would he be resurrected?
John 5:28 says the good and the bad. But even that has limitations as to how bad? How bad can we be and get forgiveness?

Knowing this man is very disturbed by the fact he was in a war and saw a lot of bad things. He is a kind and gentle man who wouldn't hurt anyone. What he did he was forced by circumstances to do. God is a reader of hearts and I feel has already forgiven him. I just wish he could forgive himself.
Then spend the rest of his life as a servant of God.
That is the only thing that will bring about real forgiveness and wipe away all the bad memories. So he can again be at peace with himself.

Well, Moses killed an Egyptian, and he was the one who later presented the Ten Commandments you speak of. King David ordered the murder of Uriah the Hittite. David was punished but then forgiven, and both he and Moses remained very special in God's sight. So I'd say yes, murderers can be forgiven if they repent of their sin.

War is a whole other question. Many First Testament writers considered it acceptable. In the Second Testament, Jesus, John the Baptist, and more than one apostle interacted with military people, and nothing indicates that they urged them to give up that line of work. But in the centuries that followed, different churches have come to very different conclusions about war. These days some religious bodies (Anabaptist and Quaker, most famously) oppose war in virtually all cases, and the Catholic church and many mainline Protestant or Reformed churches also put very strict conditions on what can qualify as a "just" war.

As for your final question, this is just my opinion, but I believe that biblically speaking, the forgiveness of God does not depend on the amount or degree of someone's bad conduct. The key is whether that person's heart is ultimately turned away from sin and back toward God.

All the best to you.

Man always has a right to defend himself against aggressors.
The Bible says "if man sheds blood, by man shall his blood be shed." 3000 people were killed 9/11 and if you weren't fighting for the USA more innocent people would be dieing today. The terrorists attacked us. You are defending us. If you are in Iraq you are also laying your life down for friends and neighbors in Iraq so you can give them a better life. They were oppressed and mistreated under Saddam Hussein.

David of the Bible killed many men and God said that David was a man after His own heart. David had great faith in God.
The Lord knows that the thoughts of your heart are right. Taking out Saddam Hussein was taking out evil. The same was true with Hitler.

What we must do is hold our government responsible for the acts of war. To save lives at home is always a just cause.

Of course. As a matter of fact, you can't commit a sin that Christ can't forgive. Christ forgave the murderer that hung beside him at Calvary; and also made the statement "There is no greater love than this, that a man would lay down his life for his friends.
Think about it. Thousands of military men gave their lives so that you could have the freedom to ask silly questions on this forum.

Murder is a specific form of killing. For example God commanded the Isrealites to put murderers to death. Obviously God would not reckon the executioners murderers.

And this should be obvious to you. If you're ever up for jury duty on a murder trial you'll need to learn the difference between murder, involuntary manslaughter, and the like.

I believe the sixth commandment is, "thou shalt not murder". There is a difference between killing and murdering. As for your question; would a murderer be resurrected? We all will be resurrected to somewhere. It's up to you, no matter what you've done short of blasphemy of the Holy Spirit.

The commandent refers to murder. The Mosaic law prescribes the death penalty for several crimes, so it can't simply mean killing. There are times when war is justified. Also, remember, there is a difference between the Law of the O.T. and Grace of the N.T. We are under Grace, not the Law.

You can play with questions like these all day long, of course.
If a woman who is being raped manages to grab a rock and hit her assailant in the head, killing him, is she going to hell for murder?
If a man is honestly out of work, and has hungry children to feed, and he steals a loaf of bread, does he go to hell for stealing?
If you glance at a magazine and there is a beautiful woman on the cover (or a handsome man, your preference) and you have a passing fancy about making love with that person...

ON the other hand, what about the guy who was raping the woman? Did his lust get so out of control that he couldn't help himself? Why? Maybe he was emotionally disturbed, or mentally deficient in some way. Does he go to hell for the rape?
What about the woman who catches the man stealing from her chidren and shoots and cripples him? Hell for her?
What about the company that published the magazine in order to get your attention so they could sell their dresses or their tools? Hell for them?

At the end of the day, aren't you glad that you are not the one responsible for making these tuff decisions?

I think nobody, not even a Christian, will deny that sometimes things aren't just black and white. One of the ten commandments is also "thou shalt not lie" yet also in the Bible Rahab lied to protect the Jewish spies and she is exalted as a hero of faith.

Besides, even if it is a sin it doesn't mean that you don't have a chance at salvation. Everyone sins, period. Yet salvation is also offered to all.
