I was always under the impression that the rapture was just part of the Gospel message, then I became a Christian and began to read the Bible for myself and came to the conclusion that this pre trib rapture was not there. Whenever I told someone I didn't believe in it they would become fighting mad as you did. As if I had insulted Christ or something I still get that reaction today if the subject comes up.There used to be a book, it's out of print now, but you may be able to find one on the net called The Rapture, A Question Of Timing by William R. Kimball that is really good .I think you would enjoy it.It shows the history of the doctrine of a pre tribulation rapture. Although it's so widely accepted, it's a fairly new doctrine, actually. God bless!!!

You probably have opened an ugly can of worms - just because so many people don't believe. I am a Bible-believing Christian, and I DO believe in the Rapture and the second coming of Christ. In fact, I haven't ever met any "Bible-believing Christian" that didn't. I don't know that I believe we are, or are not, now living in the end times - we aren't supposed to know when that is - we're just supposed to live our lives so that we are ready to go whenever the time comes. I don't think the Rapture will be how any of the fiction writers have presented it. After all, how would they know?

I understand where you are coming from because there was a time when these sorts of questions absorbed a lot of my attention, too. But then I read something in a Christian magazine that made me chuckle. It took the end of 1 Corinthians 13 and changed it (jokingly) to read: "And so, faith, hope and love, abide these three - but the greatest of these is tongues." It was just a bit of humor, but it started me thinking about the way we get caught up in very minor details of the faith and fail to give due weight to what the scriptures continually return to: the importance of a person's heart before God.
Peace in Christ, friend.

well I've studied the bible too and I don't believe the end times will happen anytime soon either because several prophecies have to take place even before the rapture and everything else can take place. I had a guy try to debate me on it the other day, but I let is slide =)

I was a passionate dispensationalist for 5 years, and a huge fan of Dave Hunt. I now hold to covenantal eschatology which is a belief within full preterism, and have so for almost 4 years. Eschatology is only part of the picture but it affects everything.

All, I can say is the rapture is not in the bible. If Christians believe so full heartily in the bible, why would they believe in the rapture?

what????? what the heck is Preterest... sounds like you change your religion more than most people change their underwear.....
You seem very, very impressionable... When you meet Elvis on the UFO that is going to come take you away.... (I figure that will be your next religion).... tell him I say "hey"
