I'm going to Tuscany in just over a week for 7nights. Staying at a Eurocamp just outside Rome and was wondering if anyone who has already been could suggest some places to visit away from Rome as I havent got a guide book yet. Im into culture and wine if that helps. Will be hiring a car. Thanks. x

I'm from Tuscany(Viareggio , Lucca) and I live in London.I'll try to do my best with my english...
If you'll stay just outside Rome I suppose you 'll be in Lazio, because Rome is in Lazio not in Tuscany. By the way south tuscany is an hour drive away from Rome, where you can visit the best wine region in Italy, il Chianti: green hills and medioeval towns like Pienza, Putignano, Scansano, Montepulciano, Saturnia, Montalcino where the food and the wine are amazing (best restaurant "La Filanda" in Manciano, unbelievable!!!)
South Tuscany has also a wonderful seaside and the weather now is pretty good (about 35 degrees, mamma call me just few minutes ago...) best places: Argentario, Follonica, Castiglion della Pescaia, Isola d'Elba,Isola del Giglio.
Enjoy your holidays and let me know!

Your Tuscany Holiday will be an unforgettable experience.

Birthplace of the Italian Renaissance and the most famous Italian artists. Land of beautiful landscapes with its rolling green hills and a quiet seaside. Famous for its wines, olive oils and typical foods with fine natural and flavourful ingredients.

...wait a sec: you're staying 'just outside Rome' and visiting tuscany (which is Kilometers and kilometers away?)?!
if you're staying close to Rome, and are into wine and culture, try the Castelli Romani (mainly, Frascati, Genzano, Albano, Marino) which were the places where Popes and Princes had their 'summer hideouts', cooler than Rome.
Excellent wine, too.

Venice is wonderful, but it's too far. I suggest you to visit:
- TIVOLI: A little medieval town, visit Villa Adriana, Villa d'Este and Villa Gregoriana (all included in UNESCO world heritage list)
- ARICCIA: A little beautiful town near Rome - good food, excellent wine, very cheap restaurants.
- VITERBO: A medieval city not so far from Rome

- OSTIA ANTICA: A little Pompei, 22km from Rome, 3 km from the see.
