This site is usefull in gaining knowledge! When it comes to voting it is the luck of the draw! In other words it all depends on who is on board at the time and voting!! You could ask and put to a vote the very same question and answer at a different time and get completely different results!!!

Very profound! If God is a creation of mankind, why is it that every culture in written history has believed in a power higher than themselves even though some of those cultures like the Aboriginals in Australia were completely isolated from other cultures until the British made the continent a penal colony? Ditto for Easter island, ditto for American Natives, ditto for the Mayans who even went as far as building pyramids similar to the Egyptians? If religion and a belief in a "higher power" is "man-made", it would stand to reason that this belief would be localized and not universal! There is a common thread that weaves its way through every culture that seems to make us ask, "Are we all there is"? Some scientists lately have labeled this the "God gene" and perhaps it is. If that is the case, where, why and how do we possess it? If this is a natural gift, one must assume it came from a "creator". If that is the case, it is a natural part of our being. So what is God? God is the remarkable order of the universe following logical "laws", the creative force that resulted in life-forms (us) capable of deciding what is creative (positive=truth) and destructive (negative=lies, decption & destruction). God is the universal Cosmic Conscience and Consciousness, a power that quite frankly we can not define because that power was there from before the beginning of the universe, is here now and will exist even after the universe does not. In our mortal, human terms, anything we do to try to define God will not even come close because our mortality gives us absolutely no frame of reference vis-a-vis immortal. As for the Athists logging onto the web site, (or anyone else who questions that they themselves have all the answers..."The fool has said to himself, there is no God") I say, you have no idea what you are missing! By the way hammerthumbs, if that is the way you feel, why did you log onto this site in the first place? Sheesh! Amen angeltress!

If someone was really serious in gaining knowledge, they shouldn't come to this site. It doesn't matter if you are religious or not. There is no knowledge-based question on here that one can be sure the answer is trustworthy. This site is useful for opinions on things, not for facts. Even source listings on here are highly skeptical. For someone serious in gaining knowledge, that person should go to respectable sources like peer reviewed articles, experts in the field, books on the subject, or even take a class.
Oh, and by the way, don't assume that because the majority of the people believe in god that it must be true. A long time ago the vast majority of the population thought the sun went around the earth, and then scientific analysis showed that it just wasn't true. Atheists have very good reason/evidence to conclude that god (or at least the god portrayed in religions) was a fabrication of human intellect. Sorry, just thought I would throw that in for defense of the atheists.

I think that God is the opposite of the Answer you cite: God created the material and all other worlds and all life.

There are many people these days who do not believe in God. I feel sorry for them, because we all go through times when God is the only being who could understand, care or forgive. We all die and die alone except for the presence of God.

Yahoo Answers is an entertainment site. We aren't supposed to "chat" in our answers or get too deep. I think putting out information that we have found to be helpful in our own lives is the best we can do here.
Too many people on Answers are either shallow or too self-interested to care much.
Plenty of us are thoughtful and caring, but lots aren't. I sometimes put links in for specific information, say on Wikipedia, to help with a problem, or certain sites on medicinal herbs or something like that.

God IS a creation of mankind, and yet if this conception exists than we must be ready to think of this conception as our creater. This seems to be a paradox in terms but perhaps it is not. The atheists who do not beleive in god live their lives in perfect peace(usually) and have no trouble with their spirituality whatsoever. However for the faithful religious person, god is essential. The conception is the essence of their lives. So we might say god is god to the believer. Just like the sun(an analogy)... The sun shines on good people and bad, criminals and priests, and one does not have to recognize the sun or even know of it. The men in the past knew not of the sun's secrets and thought it was a some guy on a carriage, and yet it still shone on them. So perhaps god is like this.

God might just be everything. As this little passage goes...

All is god,
God is all their is,
We live, think and have our being in god.

Perhaps god is a conception to lessen the magnanimity of the incomprehensible universe. Perhaps god IS the universe...

God could be the order which underlies the universe. The universe seems so perfect and everything fits so perfectly that surely there has to some devine origin for it all. And so perhaps this is what god is.

I personally believe that god is force of creation. It creates everywhere and everything. It is like the sun, shining on everything, those aware of it and not. This creating 'energy' is a devine force, unstoppable and very nearly incomprehensible. It lies not in religion, not in science, but as sort of the essence of both. This energy is not the creation of man, but a concept that has been created by man.

Religious people sometimes believe that god is some devine higher form of a human up there in the sky controlling all our faits!

Others think it some unseen, omnipresent, untouchable, inperceivable think all around us. So basically they can't support their belief of god!

Some religions use the name of god to accomplish other purposes and so arise to a totaly false definition or conception of god!

Atheists go to the other extreme and deny themselves of any justification in this universe!

The pagans are actually the closest to the real god. The pagans who are open minded, they believe that god is like the truth in this universe. They seek the best explaination and leave the other mundane, prosaic, false beliefs behind,

Eventually it is what you think. How god can be incorporated in your life. A difinition can be found in the dictionary, but it is totally irrelevent and meaningless...

I am 16 years old and interested in this stuff. Please let me know of any other questions like this...

what is going on right now, in our time ,in this generation ,is a prophecy coming true , that came from the Bible....

It said we would be persecuted for our beliefs , and it true , so the ones that are calling us nut cases, should look at what the end time prophecies are.....in the Bible and see that they are doing the things that a prophet saw and wrote down, you people are doing things to us that was seen back 2000 yrs ago...so explain that, nonbelievers!

we need to keep going as we have been because if we try to exclude people that don't believe from getting on this site then we are no longer doing as we were instructed ,when Jesus said to the disciples go and spread the word...and some of the ones that get on this space to pick on us, this may be the only place they can get information about God....this site is anointed...we shouldn't change it.

Oh, dear.
This is an open forum. That means that everyone who uses this forum has the right to post their own spiritual beliefs.
You might not agree with some others, or I might not. If you want a forum that is only for Christian questions and answers, I am sure they are out there.
You saw an answer you don't agree with. It happens. Don't get your britches in a bunch.
If we want this site to be useful for people who are truly seeking real answers to their questions about Christianity, then we, as Christians, need to learn to keep our cool and not let something this trivial send us into a hissy fit.
Remember Who you belong to, and above all...
Remember Who you represent.

Every person who has ever lived has had a unique ideal of the divine experience - that they seek. We may believe that heaven/nirvana is an experience of perfection after physical death, but we do not live that way. We long for it and believe in God potentially interceding for us - if we keep the rules of our religion.

How is it then that we do NOT create God?

The truth is that we are all embedded in a multi-dimensional reality field that is responsive to consciousness and most of what we have 'learned' to believe about ourselves and the world is unconscious. We are the cause of the chaos. Taking responsibility for what is happening to us instead of holding on to our religious beliefs because they make us feel special is the only way to grow spiritually.

If you are frustrated by atheists you cause them. Perhaps they are resisting pious pride?

This is an important question, because nobody ever defines their god with any specific, testable traits or characteristics.
If they did, we'd be able to determine the existence of him/her/it....at least based on those particular beliefs.
Instead, you get catch-phrases that are untestable or so vague as to be devoid of any real meaning.
Or, they'll just flat out say that one of the things about their god is that we can't understand him/her/it...which is convenient because it automatically shuts down any specific inquiry.

A god is broke down as a supreme being but anything or anybody in control of other people or things is a god.

If u were sick medicine would be the god to restore u back to health. If u were shot in the heart by a gun, the bulllet would be the god of death over u.

Anything in control is a god.
