Is it possible to connect this to the TV? So I can hear the audio from the TV channels?

Also, will it only play the simulated sound when connected to the TV? I'm not really sure about speaker sets, have never bought one before. For example, will the sub-woofer work when connected to the TV?

According to the specs on the web site:

Connectivity
Rear Connections : Analogue audio left / right in , SCART1 (CVBS, S-video/RGB out) , FM Antenna in , MW antenna , TV in (audio, cinch)

It does have a TV input audio connector. I am not sure what "cinch" is. So, it will definitely play stereo TV sound, but I am still not very sure if it will support a multi-channel audio input.
(I see no s/pdif input)

Check Philip's web site. Maybe they have a full manual and you can get all the details.

Yes in matter of fact i had this exact system not to long ago but i blew the sub lol. Just plug the yellow cord sound cord that comes with it(the name escaped my mind) into the back and in the tv input i think it is. If you want to use the DVD on your tv you have to get your own red and white cords they are not included. I would actually recomend the upgraded version. Its pretty much the same but all black and has more power not much but more with more features for the same price.

Yes it is possible when you buy it there should be a cord that has red and white colored ends on both ends. plug one end into the plugs that say TV. Then connect the other end to the output on the TV. and on the machine for the source put it on TV

Yes,if your TV (or cable/satellite) box has audio output. This Philips does not have digital input - only L/R analog input, so you will only get simulated sound from TV.
