it is bad to just give the wet food. but if that is what your dog likes you should mix the wet with the dry food. or you could just give your dog the wet food as a treat every once in a while.

What people need to understand is that an 'all dry' diet is not 'better' than an 'all wet' diet, or vice versa. It's the brand of the food that's important. There's no reason why an all-wet diet can't be perfectly acceptable if a high quality food is being fed. A good brand of canned dog food can be just as useful to control weight as a dry food.

What's important is to stay away from supermarket brands like Pedigree, Bakers, Butchers, Winalot, Caesar. Generally foods that are only available at large chain pet stores or vets are going to be higher quality. Dry food may be better for dog's teeth, but even an all canned can be supplemented with dental treats. Personally I prefer to feed a mixture of canned and dry of a high quality food - Hills Science Diet is my favourite. I also like Royal Canin foods.

If you currently feed your dog wet dog food, you should try to throw some dry dog food in there as well.

The dry dog food helps keep their teeth strong and keeps them chewing. If they always get wet dog food it weakens their teeth.

You can always feed them wet for dinner, lunch or breakfast (depending on how often you feed). Or split the amount of wet and dry for each feeding time.

I use to work at a local vet taking care of the boarding dogs and usually if people would bring in a wet dog food they usually had us feed their dog like a 1/2 or 1/4th amount of what they would feed in dry as a like tasty little treat after eating.

No it is not bad to feed wet food only. Contrary to popular belief (even among some vets) wet food does not contain mostly water if it is a good quality food, doesn't cause tooth issues, doesn't contain excess fat...in fact wet food contains more meat then dry and has far less carbs then dry. Quality food also doesn't contain extra water..the moistness comes from the meat content.

If you do wish to feed an all wet diet stay away from the cheap quality ones like Alpo, Ceasers, Mighty Dog and the like..go with good quality such as Canidae, merrick Chicken Soup, Fromm, Wellness just to name a few.

If feeding a total wet food diet is to expensive or makes you nervous you can feed a mixture of dry and wet.. the same quality foods I mentioned above also make great dry foods as well and the two will compliment each other.

Wet dog food causes bad breath for dogs but most dogs like it because it smells very nice and favorable for them.

Dry dog food is better for their gum and teeth.

Sometimes, you can mix both if you are changing from wet to dry dog food, so your dog can get use to it. You should slowly reduce the wet dog food once s/he starts eating dry food.

You should really feed your dog both wet and dry food because dry food is good for their teeth it helps scrape the tartar and the plaque off. I know there are lots of other reasons but that is the one I am going with for now

An all wet food diet will decay and damage the teeth and gums of you dog, your dog will have bad breath and will end up with extremely stinky farts and loose poo's. An all in one (complete) meal is usually the best, it will provide all the nutrients, vitamins and minerals your dog will need to keep your dog healthy inside and out. You can mix the two if you wish. Your dog will be a lot happier and you will be to when he slobbers on you and it doesn't stink.

If you are good about brushing your dogs teeth, it is not bad to give your dog wet food.

Wet food is better for your dogs, if you give it a high quality wet food- no grains like corn, wheat, rice, barley, beet pulp.

Dry food is also okay for your dogs, if you feed it a high quailty food with no grains like corn, wheat, barley, beet pulp, etc.

You can find a high quality food for your dogs by going to google and doing a search on : dog + food + grain free

Good luck.

Dogs go crazy for wet food, but it is bad for them. It is best not to use, but if your dog is stubborn and will not eat dry food, then I suggest taking a spoon, and coat the dry food just until it is a little wet looking.

Hope this helps.
