And must be restored to them as part of a new Palestinian state?

Especially when this isn't mentioned in the Koran.

It was King David's conquest of Jeruslaem in 996 BCE & establishment of the city as Israel's capital (2Samuel5:6-10) predated the Muslims'capture of Jerusalem in the 16th century CE by 2,500 yrs.

Oh, this is such a touchy subject.
I am an American, I grew up in upstate New York, and I am currently living in southern Alabama.
I would be quite upset if the American Indians got them some powerful backing and decided to toss me out of my home...it hasn't been that long ago that the spot I am sitting on was Indian land. I don't have any idea how long they had lived here before someone else conquered it, all I know is that my husband and I bought it, and I live here now.
On the other hand, Muslims did take that land by blood. Well, the Muslims that took it centuries ago, anyhow. The people living there now have lived there ever since. I suppose, for them, the 16th century counts as "ancient".
But, your argument is valid. Rightfully, it was Jewish land.
Who did David take it from, again??

First of all Jerusalem was in the hands of Muslims since the 6th century where everybody lived in peace together Muslims Christians and Jews. This was until the crusades where it was out of their control for 90 years, then Muslims restored peace to it until the British came in the 20th century. Secondly, before King David, the land was inhabited by the Canaanites and Palestinians. Canaanites cam from Arabia long time before. Palestinians immigrated to this land and mixed with Canaanites and current Palestinians are the grand grand sons of this mixed people.

Are you invoking the 2,000 year rule generally, or just for one part of the middle east?

It's going to be hard on all those homeless Americans of European descent, giving America back.

And on any English (the vast, vast majority) who can't trace descent to western tribes. Not even Roman stock will be good enough, never mind the Norman French johnny -come-lately's who have only been in residence for a thousand years.

I find it quite clear that Israel was founded illegally in 1948.
That doesn't mean I now argue for its eradication.

But to order current borders on the basis of an ancient kingdom? That's just bizarre.

The land has been overrun and occupied by so many groups that it's hard to say who it rightfully belongs to these days. The Israeli's occupy it now due to over 100 years of struggle. They've paid for it by blood, negotiation, loss, money, decree, treaty and every way that any country is occupied.

If nothing else, they've done a lot more with the place than the previous tenents. At least they've fixed up the joint. Have you ever been to Israel? It's a beautiful country.

Because people should not be worrying about this kind of thing when there are people dying of starvation.

For goodness sake, just live and let live!

IT WAS OVER A THOUSAND YEARS AGO! Get Over It!

What's the matter with these people who think their race or their sexuality is the only thing about themselves that is of any import?

IT REALLY DOESN'T MATTER - PEOPLE ARE PEOPLE!

They love their children and want the best for them. They go to work to put a roof over their heads. They don't want to get shot or bombed and they do want enough to eat.

You silly person!

I don't know but I would have thought that the fact that they (Palestinians) were living there for 2000 years might have given them some claim to it being their state.

It's really not cool to forcibly eject nearly half a million people from their homeland and kill a bunch of others. Agreed?

Short answer:
"Sour grapes"

Addendum:
I'm seeing the same arguments over and over again about how the Palestinians, Bedouins, etc... were there before the Israelis and, by this reasoning, the Palestinians have some sort of "squatters rights" to Jerusalem...

It's the same damn tripe I see used in posts which refer to the woes that the 'white man' brought upon 'native' Americans...
...and, quite frankly, these facile arguments are getting old.

Throughout the history of mankind, a pattern has been established:

---When one society crosses the path of another society,
and their goals do not 'mesh', then they will clash.
The end result of this conflict, almost without exception,
is the subjugation or demise of the culture which proved to be the LESSER DYNAMIC of the cultures involved; a sort of 'societal' survival-of-the-fittest, if you will.---

And, like it or not,... that is just simply the 'nature' of man.

"One man's God is another man's Devil", and the Devil's name is 'Master'... "

Well it was theirs before the modern state of Israel formed. So I guess they just choose to look far enough back into history to suit their desires but not any further.
