I want to put a new stereo in my 2005 Trailblazer but cannot find a wire adapter (harness?) to go on it. Evidently I need a special one that splits to the stereo and to the door dinger. It just has a basic stereo/cd player in it right now (factory), no onstar or anything special. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Evidently this cannot be bought at a Wal-Mart because I have already tried that...and the person that is installing it for me is afraid to start splitting wires. There has to be some kind of wire adapter to go with it somewhere???

please do not cut the wires.
Your vehicle will be a little bit different than a simple harness.
Your factory radio interfaces with the door chime and onstar.
If you have and want to keep Bose, the door chime, and or onstar, you need one of two things:
A radio relocation kit (The factory radio is moved to the back, and an aftermarket radio can be added in the dash)
here is a picture of the bha2004t radio relocation harness:

Or an integration module such as these:

If you want to keep your warning chimes and the "retained accessory power" feature that keeps your radio on until you open the door, this is the adapter you need:

If you don't care about your warning chimes or RAP feature, and if you're willing to run the red wire to an alternate key-switched power source (there's none in the stock plug) then you can use this harness:

Go to the car audio department at your local Best Buy or Circut City. Last chance go to an after market customize company.

Make your own from the parts you remove, i.e. splice it on.
